Keeping Up With The Kennedy
June 14, 2020- Issue 39
Good Evening Families
We have a big week coming up as we wind down the 2019-2020 school year. Families will be coming by the building to pick up student belongings. Please read the protocol below to help with a smooth process.
Students in grades 4 and 5 will be dropping off their musical instruments at this time.
Chromebooks have a separate drop off procedure. Please see below.
Nurse Stenmon will be at JFK to distribute medications back to families when you come to pick up your students personal belongings. If you have any questions please contact her at stenmone@cantonma.org
I am also happy to announce that we have finalized a plan for our Grade 5 Celebration. Please read information below.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about any end of the year information.

Chromebook Drop Off
As the school year is coming to a close, I want to provide you with the details for the upcoming student loaner Chromebook collection. This collection is for any Chromebook that was loaned to students for either the school closure/remote learning deployment or the Canton High School Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program. I sincerely hope that access to a device provided support to your child during this school year and specifically during school closure.
We have scheduled the return dates for the loaned devices as follows:
Tuesday, June 23rd 12 pm - 2 pm
Wednesday, June 24th 10 am - 12 pm
Thursday, June 25th 8 am - 10 am
The collection will take place at Canton High School and we will be using a similar format for collection as we did for distribution.
Pull into the main loop at Canton High School (entrance by the tennis courts). Place a sign in the passenger window with the name(s) of each of your children that borrowed a Chromebook. Please have the Chromebook(s) AND charger(s) accessible in your trunk. A staff member will retrieve it upon your arrival.
All borrowed Chromebooks and chargers must be returned to Canton Public Schools on one of the collection dates listed above.
Lastly, I would like to publicly thank the Technology and Digital Learning Team for all their hard work. They prepared and deployed over 550 Chromebooks to our students and offered support to students and families, as well as staff, during these last few months. I am incredibly proud to work with such an amazing group of staff members committed to supporting our school community.
If you have any questions, please reach out to our staff at cpstechhelp@cantonma.org.
Thank you and have a wonderful summer!
Best,
Julie Shore

Grade 5 Celebration
We are very excited to announce our Grade 5 Celebration. Please read below for specifics. The event will take place on Monday, June 22 with a 9:30 start for students in Mrs. Banks/Miss Donaghey's classes and at 10:15 for Mr. Houle, Mrs. Kelley, and Mrs. Booth. There may be some additional surprises that we are keeping a secret.....
- At the designated time, cars will begin to form a line in the large parking lot similar to the morning drop off.
- · Each student will ride in a car with their family
- Please have student name displayed on a paper on the dashboard.
- · Cars will then be directed to drive through the JFK horseshoe
- · Teachers will be standing 6 feet apart in front of the office.
- · A marker will be on the ground to show students where to stand
- · Each student will get out of the car with a face mask. When it is their turn to take a picture the mask can be removed, and then put back on to return to the car.
- · Parents will pop their trunk for the student's "swag bag" to be placed in the trunk and then proceed out of the horse shoe.
Incoming Kindergarten News
We will be having a Kindergarten Information Night on Monday, June 22 @ 5pm. More information to follow.
A note from Mr. Sasin
This is the last week for Grade 5 to participate in the 5th Grade Mile. Students should use a tracker and send along a picture of themselves and their completed mile to this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSczXL5P2W-mb21D1PFta17Cqt8HcdAnr1MQc9kHgzoXG0PhxQ/viewform?usp=sf_link
Parents can also email a picture of the mile participants if they don't want to fill out the form.
Make it a family event and get out there and try a mile together. Jogging is a great life long fitness skill and we always love to finish off 5th grade with this event to help prepare them for the Middle School. If it's too much to run all at once then do a walk/ jog to complete it. It's really all about participation and trying your best! Good luck, have fun, and stay well!
