Whitewater Wildcats
March 2021
WHS Families,
The 2021 Whitewater High School Junior/Senior prom was originally scheduled for Saturday, March 20th at the Southern Exchange Ballroom in Atlanta. However, with the continued circumstances surrounding the pandemic, and after much discussion with central office officials, adjustments to the original plan have been made.
We will still have a Junior/Senior prom; but to better accommodate COVID safety protocols, the date and location of the prom have been changed. Whitewater’s 2021 Junior/Senior prom will be held Saturday, May 1st on the WHS Campus. Event attendance will be limited to Juniors and Seniors who are enrolled at Whitewater High School at the time of the event. Masks will be required for the duration. Ticket prices will be adjusted to reflect the location change.
Administration and class sponsors are working on the other necessary details and more information will come in the following weeks; however, we wanted to give you the preliminary information so students could begin their planning.
I know this is not prom as usual, but we are working hard to give our students the best experience possible in light of the current circumstances. Thank you for your support. We look forward to celebrating the Junior/Senior Prom in May.
Sincerely,
Steven D. Cole
Principal

WHS ATHLETICS
This school year, all Fayette County high schools have a card & mobile payment only ticketing policy at all athletic events. Fans are able to purchase tickets online through Whitewater's GoFan page or by presenting a debit/credit card (or mobile payment option) at the ticket gate. The new ticket gate setup promotes social distancing while limiting person-to-person contact and the physical exchange of cash.
Fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets online prior to reaching the facility.
WHS Sources of Strength
TRUSTED ADULT
This month WHS S.O.S. peer leaders are asking students to identify their "Trusted Adult"
One of the best ways we can protect young people from suicide is for them to have caring, connected, and positive adults in their lives. A Trusted Adult could be a parent, an older sibling, relative, employer, teacher, coach, faith leader, or community member - anyone that a young person to reach out to. Take a moment to talk with your students about the "trusted adults" in their lives.

Reminder: WHS Drop-off Policy
Students can meet with their teachers for help sessions before or after school. Students should contact the teacher to coordinate date and time.

In the virtual setting, student success is greatly improved when parents regularly check on the student's progress in all courses. This can be done through the Schoology parent portal and the Edgenuity parent portal. If you have questions on how to access these portals, please contact the Fayette Virtual Academy by email at fvasupport@mail.fcboe.org.
High school counselors are working on scheduling through Friday, Jan 15. Grades are being finalized today, and course failures in the fall semester may lead to schedule changes for the spring semester.
