NEXT WEEK FOR LUNCH
WHAT DID YOU DO OVER SUMMER BREAK?
hot springs and gushing geysers. Not to forget the many wild animals you’ll encounter along the way such as moose, bison, elk, mountain goats and bears just to name a few.
Kylie (5th) went to Massachusetts! (right)
Ishanvi (1st) had a great adventure during my summer break and I visited Georgia and went to "amicalola waterfalls". This is my first hiking experience and I had a lot of fun doing it. There were about 425 steps from end to end to reach the top of the waterfall.
Here is the link to the national park if any one is interested - https://www.amicalolafallslodge.com/

SECOND
THIRD
FOURTH
This week, Mr. Mateer’s class worked on place value in math, reading maps in social studies, and finding explicit text evidence in reading. In science, students had the chance to complete a scientific experiment. The question: does using hot water make the color dissolve faster from the outside of a skittle? Ask your child how it went, what exactly we did, and everything they learned! We had a great time, and the class did a great job, so I’m sure they’ll be eager to tell you all about it!
Don’t forget about picture day on Monday and iReady reading diagnostic next week!
FIFTH
This week in Ms. Brown's class, we reviewed several standards in the text Why Koala Has No Tail: Comparing and contrasting characters, settings, and events, quoting accurately, summarizing, and FSA style text dependent questions. For our Imaginary Narrative, this week we worked on creating dynamic characters, encountering trouble, sequencing event ideas, descriptive actions using our 5 senses, and dynamic dialogue. We have continued practicing policies and procedures and are off to a fantastic year!
SIXTH
Sixth graders in the life science classes have been preparing for upcoming laboratory investigations and science fair projects by learning lab safety. In Mrs. Aramayo’s class, students have been working in groups to create a comic strip about laboratory safety. Here’s one currently in the making!
In music we have been getting to know each other through talking about identity, singing songs with dynamics, and identifying instruments of the orchestra. Next week we start playing percussion instruments. Thank you to all the parents who donated instruments!
SPECIALS
In Art class we continued to review our responsibilities and safety procedures in the art room as well as working as a team and independently. We have started talking about color and color theory in all grades!! We had a fun week expressing who we are through drawings!
In Character Education, we have continued to go over rules and learn how to “buddy up” and “meet up”. We have started talking about commonalities and what it means to make assumptions about others.
CLUBS AND AFTERSCHOOL ACTIVITIES
CLUBS
Hello families!
I hope that everyone has had a great start to the year! We are doing our second round of club placements and the link to request a club for your child is below. Please note that not all clubs have availability, but you do have the option to add your child to a waiting list. The due date to complete the form is Tuesday, August 24th. We will be working on club placements next week and you will receive a placement email which will confirm your child’s placement in a club. Your child will start in clubs once they receive their placement information, not before.
If you are interested in a competition club you were placed on the initial interest file and do not need to indicate interest again. If you did not express interest in a competition club but would like to, you will indicate accordingly on the form.
Please remember that you should not arrive on campus before clubs dismiss. Even coming 5 minutes early causes backups in our dismissal process.
- Building 1 (grades K-3) - clubs dismiss at 3:40 during the week and 2:40 on Wednesday
- Building 2 (grades 4-6)- clubs dismiss at 3:30 during the week and 2:30 on Wednesday
