Ney Library News
Find out what is happening in our library!
Ebooks are here!
Thanks to a grant received from The Dow Chemical and a generous matching grant from our own Ney PTO, the students at Ney have access to hundreds of ebooks! Almost all of Ney's second through fourth graders have been taught how to access hundreds of ebook titles. Our ebook collection can be accessed from school, home, or anywhere with wifi access. This means a portion of our Ney library has 24/7 access. We are so excited about this news. There are several ways to find Ney's ebook collection. Please choose from the following options and take a look at what we have to offer our students:
- Visit (and bookmark) our Ney Student Symbaloo: http://www.symbaloo.com/mix/neystudents From this site, click on Mackin Via. Next, in the box labeled, school, type in Ney (a list of schools will appear, choose ours). The student's username will be their five digit lunch number. The student's password will be bisd+five digit lunch number. So, if a student' s lunch number is 12345, their username will be 12345 and their password will be bisd12345.
- Visit the Ney Library Website: http://www.brazosportisd.net/webpages/broland/ then from the homepage, find the Ney Student Symbaloo, click on Mackin Via and follow the login directions in option number 1.
- Visit MackinVia.com and then follow the login directions found in option number 1.
- Download the MackinVia app (available on most devices) and follow the login directions found in option number 1.
Once logged into MackinVia, students can checkout ebooks, read ebooks, and even listen to some ebooks being read TO them (only available on certain titles). Please take a look at this site, play with it, and let us know how you like it! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mrs. Roland at school.
The Reading Celebration is Coming
Our annual PTO-sponsored Reading Celebration is coming soon! Students have been encouraged to meet their grade level-specific goal for this year in order to be able to attend this celebration on May, 29th. Mrs. Jennifer Palmer has been hard at work planning an exciting Reading Celebration for this year. There are many fun activities in store for the students who meet their goal. In order to attend the Reading Celebration students must meet the goal set for his/her grade level:
- First Grade: a minimum of 15 Accelerated Reader points for this year and at least 80% cumulative accuracy on all AR tests for this year.
- Second Grade: a minimum of 25 Accelerated Reader points for this year and at least 80% cumulative accuracy on all AR tests for this year.
- Third Grade: a minimum of 35 Accelerated Reader points for this year and at least 80% cumulative accuracy on all AR tests for this year.
- Fourth Grade: a minimum of 45 Accelerated Reader points for this year and at least 80% cumulative accuracy on all AR tests for this year.
