Seniors, graduation is right around the corner, please see the Balfour rep while they are here to take care of all your graduation needs. Balfour will be on campus during lunch April 5th and April 6th to finalize senior Cap and Gown orders.

ACT Prep Session

Mrs. Havner will be hosting an ACT Prep Session for Science tomorrow and Thursday, April 5th and 7th. It will be from 8:00-8:20 AM and from 3:35-4:00 PM. It will be in my classroom N120. It is free and anyone who would like is welcome to attend. Hope to see you there!

Indian Education Field Trip Tomorrow

This is a reminder for Indian Education students that are attending the field trip tomorrow. You need to bring a sack lunch or $8.00 dollars to eat. Buses will load at 8:30 AM on the south side, next to the teacher parking lot and football complex. We are looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!

Red Line Dance Team Tryouts

Red Line Dance team tryouts for the 2016-2017 school year will be held April 28th-29th. There will be a parent and student informational meeting Monday, April 18th, at 5:30 PM in room C112 at HGHS. For more information, see Mrs. Braudaway.

French Honor Society

If you are in French Honor Society, and already initiated, your honor cords will be $12.00. Please pay Mrs. Braudaway by Thursday, April 14th. If you are not in French Honor Society but are eligible, you will be receiving a letter this week. If you have not been initiated you will not be able to wear cord. Initiation for French Honor Society will be May 4th, after school. It should last about thirty minutes.

France & Italy Travelers

There will be a meeting for our trip on Tuesday, April 12th, 2016 at 5:30 PM in Madame Braudaway's room C112. Let her know if you cannot attend or have questions. You can email her at

HG Band

Check out this awesome audio snippet of Jazz Band today. Luke Hayden is on vocals! The Jazz Band will perform at Fine Arts Night on May 5th and the Spring Band Concert on May 19th.

Two anonymous alumni groups are offering scholarships to seniors in this class. The two groups are called the Hazel Green Alumni and the Hazel Green Alumni Class of 61. The application packets are available in the Guidance Office scholarship file box. The applications are due to be returned to Mrs. Hutchison no later than April 15th.

Huntsville/Madison County Leadership Challenge

The Huntsville/Madison County Leadership Challenge application has been extended to May 1st. Please see the attached updated flyer and application to apply.

2016 Challenge Leadership Class

Please see the attached flyer and application to the 2016 Challenge Leadership Class for interested students that will be entering 9th or 10th grade in August of 2016. The good news is that the program is part of the Huntsville/Madison County Leadership program and that organizers are seeking more students from MCS. The "challenging" news is that the initial deadline for this program is next Monday, April 4th. According to their information - they will continue to to accept applications until all their spaces are filled. The class includes students from neighboring public school systems as well as private school systems. Revision to Pre-Approved Absence Policy- Students requesting pre-approved, excused absences will need to turn the form into Mrs. Sharp at least 20 days before the planned absence. Forms can be found on the school website.

Procedure for Riding the Bus with a Friend
- Any student who plans to ride home on a bus with a friend or to another address should follow the procedures below. No student will be allowed to ride to a different address without verification of parent/guardian approval by a school official.

1. A parent/guardian note should be turned in before first block to the receptionist desk at the back of the school. The note should contain the address and information for the bus driver and should include the date and a correct phone number for verification purposes.

2. Pick up the verified note from the receptionist during lunch.

3. Give the note to the bus driver when entering the bus at the end of the school day.

First Priority/FCS
meets every Tuesday morning at 8:00 in the Black Box Theatre. All students are welcome to attend.

PAL is a service where anyone can call a toll free number 1-866-962-3030 and receive useful, practical information and assistance with developmental and parenting questions and concerns. Available 8:00am – 8:00pm (central time) Monday – Friday.

Going green at “the Green”. The Hazel Green High School Special Education Department needs your old cell phones and ink cartridges. Items to be recycled can be given to a Special Education teacher or left for collection at the office. Your support of our recycling fundraiser is greatly appreciated.

Reward Cards:
Parents/Students/Employees, please remember to use your reward cards when you visit Publix and Hazel Green Pharmacy. Every time you have them swipe your card, HGHS will receive a portion of the sale. If you need a reward card, just stop by the main office to pick one up.

Driver’s permit:
Students /Parents, remember to pick up the Student Enrollment Form before you go to get your permit. The driver’s license department will not allow you to take the test unless you have this form and it cannot be faxed after you get there. These forms are good for 10 days only.

Loyalty Reward Tags:
(Hazel Green Pharmacy Loyalty Key Tag Program) Parents/Students/Employees, please remember to use your loyalty key tag when you visit Hazel Green Pharmacy. Every time you purchase a Prescription/Gift/OTC have them swipe your tag. HGHS will receive a portion of the sale. If you need a loyalty key tag, just stop by the main office to pick one up.
