Mrs. Silvestri's Class News
October 10-14
What's happening in Math?
This week we finished up our multiplication and division as comparison unit. We also began talking about Factors, Multiples, Prime and Composite numbers! We are having so much fun with factor rainbows, making rectangular arrays, and playing factor and multiple games. We will finish factors and multiples next week. We will also start reviewing for our EOQ's (end of quarter assessments).
Reading
This week we learned about what a Tall Tale is and read the story of John Henry and Sally Ann Thunder Ann Whirlwind. We also watched a video (digitial version) of each story. We then found the similarities and differences in the written text and digital version of the text. We practiced Point Of View this week as well. Ask your student to tell you the POV chant.
Social Studies
We continued our Native Americans of North Carolina unit this week. Your students are navigating through a fun website to learn all about the Native Americans from NC. We are reading articles, stories, listening to stories, making dream catchers, and we even have the opportunity for some extra credit. Ask your student to tell you something they have learned so far.
Welcome to our class, Channing! We are so happy you are here.
Congratulations!
Our newest VIP is Bethany! Bethany has everything it takes to be a VIP student. I can always count on her to be on task, helping her classmates, and keeping our classroom tidy. Awesome job, Bethany, you deserve it.
