STAAR Testing - Closed Campus May 13-15
All 6th grade students and some retesting 5th grade students will take the Math and Reading STAAR on Monday and Tuesday, May 13 and 14. All 5th grade students will take the Science STAAR on Wednesday, May 15.
Some things to know for these days of testing:
- It is extremely important that the students get plenty of rest the night before, and that they eat a good breakfast in the morning.
- Students need to be on time and in their seat by 8:30 am
- The campus is closed to visitors on these 3 days of testing, and this includes during lunch.
- If you would like to bring your child lunch on either of these days, you can drop it off in the front office, however, no visitors will be allowed to eat lunch in the cafeteria on these 3 days. All lunch times will be different than normal!
- Lunch for the students testing will be later than normal.
Our students are awesome, and they will do a GREAT job!!!

Pre-Check in for End of Year Awards on May 23
In order to avoid a long line to check in on our Team Awards Day on Thursday, May 23, we are offering a “PRE-CHECK IN” opportunity for you . This will be a real time-saver for you, as the lines can get pretty long on this day with all the award activities taking place (like the Schedule Pick-Up Fast Pass) .
Here is how you can take advantage of our Pre-Check-in Opportunity:
- You Bring in your Driver’s License anytime between Monday, May 13 – Wednesday, May 22.
- You must be listed in Skyward as a Family member OR Emergency Contact
- We will print you a Visitor Badge good for MAY 23rd ONLY
- You bring that badge with you on Thursday, May 23 and check in at one of the “PRE-CHECK IN” tables
- If you lose that badge, you will have to check in at the office again. This means possibly standing in long a line that day.
- If you bring anyone with you who did not previously get a “PRE-CHECK IN “ badge, they will NOT be allowed in with you. They will have to wait in line in the office and present their Driver License and be verified that they are listed in Skyward.

Dress Code - We need your help!
It is that time of year when the weather gets warmer, and the students want to test the waters with the dress code.
Our ultimate goal is for our students to be in class, however, students who are out of dress code will be placed in ISS if they cannot correct the dress code issue with extra clothes, calling a parent for backup clothing, etc.
Here is what we begin seeing that is not within dress code:
- Short Shorts - if the shorts are more than 5 inches above the knee, then they are out of dress code. Easy way to measure is the length of a notecard.
- Slides - Socks and sandals are not allowed.
- Leggings - These are okay as long as the shirt covers the front and back areas; however, we are seeing shorter shirts with the leggings. See through leggings are an even bigger no-no!
- Gaping/Huge Holes in Jeans - Jeans that have small holes from the knees down are not a major concern, but jeans with multiple holes, large and frayed holes, and holes above the knee, are not okay. If the student has leggings under the holes, that is fine, but no leggings=no bueno!
School Ends at 4:00 PM
Please make sure you pick your child up from school every day on time.
Friendly Reminder about Students Arriving Before 8:00 AM
Several students are arriving VERY early each morning, and they are causing disruptions in front of the school. They are bringing outside balls and play equipment that is NOT allowed.
Icenhower staff begins their duty day at 8:00 AM. Students who are dropped off before 8:00 AM will not be supervised.
The school day ends at 4:00 PM. Please make sure your student is picked up in a timely manner.
No Messages Will be Delivered After 3:00 PM
We understand that emergency situations can come up, and those will be handled accordingly.
