The Law of Inertia
Newton's first law of motion is The Law of Inertia. This states that an object at rest will remain at rest, and an object in motion will remain in motion unless an unbalanced force acts upon it.
You might ask what inertia is, well inertia is a state of matter that keeps its state of rest or its velocity along a straight line.
An example of inertia would be a ball rolling down a hill. The ball will continue to roll unless something stops it.
Another example would be if there is a soccer ball at rest and then you kick it then you are changing its state of rest.
