Car Rider Line Updates
Cell Phone Usage
As we begin the new year, we would like to remind our parents that student safety is our first priority here at Willbern. Throughout the Fall semester, we noticed an increased use of cell phones in the car rider line. Talking or texting while in a school zone puts student safety at risk and is also against the law. As a reminder, we will not load, unload, or release cars while drivers are using their cell phones. Effective January 11th, we will begin recording the car rider tag number of drivers not following our cell phone policy. A warning letter will be sent to the owner of the car rider tag with a reminder of the car rider line expectations. After 2 warnings you will have to begin parking your car and checking your child(children) out in the front office AFTER the car rider line closed. Bus service is still provided for all CFISD students not on a transfer. We know you join us in wanting the provide the safest environment possible for all Willbern students.
Morning Drop-Off
School starts at 8:05am. At this time all our staff members have instructional duties for which they are responsible. Effective January 12th, cars not in line on school property at 8:05 will be required to park and walk their students to the front office. Parents who do not walk their students in will be called to return and sign students in so they may go back to class. Please know that in the case of inclement weather or traffic issues reported to us by CFPD, we will extend the drop off time.
Parent Concerns
As we ask you to conform to car rider rules we welcome your feedback to lp us monitor ourselves as well. If you have any concerns please call the front desk share the concern with the school receptionist who will share them with Mrs. Roberson. We appreciate the feedback we received last semester and have spoken with our car rider staff them.
Attendance Counts
Did you know that tardies and early releases can keep your student from earning Perfect Attendance? Per the Willbern Student Handbook:
Tardiness and Early Release
It is extremely important that each child arrives at school on time. Teacher's instructions, directions and assignments begin at 8:05 a.m.. Students arriving after 8:05 a.m. will be tardy and must go to the front office to get a tardy slip. It is also important that your child doesn't leave school early. The school will keep informed by letter of excessive tardies or early releases.
If a student has more than 2 tardies or early releases per semester they will not be eligible for perfect attendance at the End of the Year Awards.
5th Grade Party
We also want to be sure your student has a 5th grade t-shirt. Students attending the party at Boomers must wear their shirts to enter. The link below will take you to the t-shirt order form.
