MCCHS FRIDAY FOCUS
Pilgrims on the Way of Truth
16th Edition January 13, 2017
Our faculty had a productive in-service this past Friday, advancing their technological skills with Google and other exciting educational apps! Teachers are perpetual students - continually learning new material and exploring meaningful ways to share their knowledge with their students. Every workshop, class, or meeting we attend - the objective will always be the same: provide our students with the absolute BEST educational experience here at Marian Central. The students certainly love the added time off from school, especially after a long week of exams; but we truly appreciate these opportunities to grow professionally!
A special THANK YOU to all who completed the Friday Focus survey last week! We received quite a few responses and are thrilled to learn that this newsletter is making your experience at Marian better! We also appreciate the written feedback too, and we are working to address some wonderful suggestions you shared with us! For example, you'll notice that our Weekly At-A-Glance is a bit longer: we added as many club meetings as possible. We also added a few more sports calendar events - ones that were outside of the typical practice-schedule description. For a full sports practice-schedule, please follow the link to 8to18 below (and on our Marian website!) Also - we are currently working on a better way to manage and share all the clubs/organization news, information, and events...so we hope to have that ready to launch in the coming weeks too!

Winter Dance Scheduled for January 28th!
We are pleased to host this year's Winter Dance here in the Lander's Pavilion on Saturday, January 28th from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm! Have your students check out the posters which will be up all next week! This is a "semi-formal" occasion - but more importantly, it is a fun night filled with friends, music, and refreshments!
PROM DRESS SHOPPING?
Even though we are months away from the big event, many of our junior/senior young women are already shopping for that perfect evening gown! We felt it would be helpful to all if you had this PROM GUIDELINE to help determine acceptable dress for this formal event. Most high schools in the area have created very similar guidelines, so this helps create a consistent message across our entire community.
In the coming weeks, we will be visiting the Junior/Senior classrooms to go over these guidelines in detail with our students- but we felt it important to share this with you early enough for the shopping trips!
Do you live in McHenry? Can you help with a carpool next year?
We still are in need of a family to help with a carpool for a family new to Marian! The Admissions Office has an incoming freshman family for the 2017-2018 school year that would like to connect with a carpool to provide a ride to and from school. The family lives just off Rt. 31 in McHenry. Please contact Mike Maloney at (815) 338-4220 ext. 108, or email at mmaloney@marian.com if you may be able to help. Thank you!
Athletic Shout Outs!
Cheer and Dance to Compete this Sunday!
This Sunday, our talented cheer team will be heading to Niles West for their IHSA Invitational. Anyone who has seen our team perform can tell you their stunts, gymnastics, and choreography is simply amazing! Our Dance Team will be participating in the Catholic League Dance Championships at Loyola Academy as well! Their competition routine is so high-energy and just a blast to watch! Best of luck to both teams as they represent our beloved school this weekend.
Wrestling heading to the ESCC Mega Duels at St. Viator!
