Weekly Update

Strive Center for Autism

Congratulations Evey - BCBA!

Many of our families know and love Evey from our Burton location - she has been our Lead Therapist in Burton since last year, and has completed her coursework in Applied Behavior Analysis, all her supervised fieldwork, and just this week passed her exam for certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst! Please congratulate her when you see her - we are so proud of all her hard work!

Big picture

Label Your Lunch

Please remember to label your child's lunch bag with his first name or initials. It is very confusing to look into the sea of brown paper bags and try to guess whose is whose!

It is ok to send all the food for the day in one bag, if that works for you - we can let the kids pick an item for each snack. If you prefer your child eat a particular item for snack, then please label it and we will gladly offer that item for snack time.

Keep in mind that we do have 2 snack times per day for full day children, so they will choose 2 items out of their lunch to eat for snack. Pack plenty - if there's food leftover, we'll send it home!

July is Zoo Month

Our theme for July is Zoo Animals! We are playing with lots of toy animals, reading books about zoo animals, watching live zoo cams during snack, and enjoying songs, crafts, and activities with animals every day!

Here's a resource you can check out for zoo cams all across the country: https://zoowithus.com/live-web-cams/.

Here's a favorite jungle Youtube video that your kids will recognize:

And here's Jack Hartman's song for July - our kids love his videos!

Speaking of the zoo....

The Autism Alliance of Michigan's Hero Walk is typically held at the Detroit Zoo, but this year it's going virtual. Please join our team if you are able!

The virtual AAOM Hero Walk will be on July 26th. The AAOM provided a great deal of support and information for ABA providers and parents throughout the COVID-19 shutdown. They really provide tremendous support for families all year long, including free training opportunities like the virtual one we hosted on Tuesday, June 23rd. Please consider joining our team and fundraising for this organization if you're able.
