Lone Star Language Academy
Message from Dr. Barker
Dear Parents,
We are looking forward to welcoming you back to Lone Star Language Academy tonight at Open House! Our faculty and staff cannot wait to see you and your children tonight.
I am very grateful to the LSLA board and staff for welcoming me this week as the new interim superintendent of Lone Star Language Academy. I know the team was very thankful for Dr. Johnston’s service to LSLA this past year, and I look forward to leading the school into this exciting new season, along with Lone Star’s principal Ms. Vella.
Thank you for entrusting us with your children this year. My wife and I have five children of our own ranging from ages 3-11, and so I do not take this responsibility lightly.
I am beginning my 19th year in education, with eight years working in higher education, four years as a 5th grade teacher, and then I have served as a charter writer and founding administrator of a successful charter school in southwest Dallas. I have since been serving as a consultant to charter school administrators in Texas along with the Dynamic Support Solutions (DSS) team. DSS will be assisting LSLA with back office support, so that the LSLA academic team can focus on serving your children. I look forward to furthering our mission of providing every student an innovative 21st Century learning experience in an environment that is supported by caring teachers, engaging instruction and language acquisition that connects to every child's life experiences.
Looking forward to a great year!
Sincerely,
Dr. Brance Barker

Message from Principal, Ms. Vella
Dear Parents,
I am very excited to begin my 32nd year in education and to serve Lone Star Language Academy as the Principal of the 2019-2020 school year!
We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential at Lone Star Language Academy. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:
1) Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience
2) Completes all homework assignments given by teachers
3) Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
4) Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life
5) Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject
Sincerely,
Jamie Vella
Principal
