We have more than 10,000 lakes! There are 15,291 lakes that are over 10 acres in size. Minnesota was named after the Dakota Indian word "minisota" meaning sky tinted waters. Minnesota became a tritory in march 3, 1849.
Fort Snelling
Fort Snelling was built in 1819 it the land was pushed by Zebulon pike in 1805. fort Snelling is a military base but they do not fight there. Fort Snelling also protects the fur trade. Also if trouble steered up the officers of fort Snelling would punish those who stared it.
Harriet Bishop
Harriet Bishop is one of the first teacher in minnesota. She works in St. paul at an old rundown abandoned black smith shop and tired it into a class room. She state red the first sunday school in St. paul also she stared a temperance group.
