Buhrer Dual Language Academy
“Creating Bilingual Scholars Every Day”
Message for the Week
This is a perfect time to revisit the 15 scholars identified to move to the next NWEA band per grade level and assess how these scholars are progressing. If each scholar identified moves to the next band level, Buhrer will meet or exceed our performance index (PI) goal for this school year. If scholars are not progressing, think about what supports are needed to ensure scholars are ready to succeed on the OST.
Our Goals
Academic
- Increase Proficiency in Reading and Math by 20% -Decrease students in the lowest 20th percentile by 20% -Meet 80% Projected Growth Targets -Attendance Rate 97%
CFL Indicators
-Challenge 98% -Safety 97% -Social Emotional Learning 98% -Support 98%
Reminders
Important: We are required by the district to have at least 80% of our parents contacted by this point in the school year. Currently, we're well below this requirement. Below is a link to see which scholars have not had conferences logged in eSchool. eSchool conference codes are as follows: PTCI: In Person, PIEP: IEP Meeting PTSS: Student Support Meeting/SST PTOH: Open House APTT: Academic Parent Teacher Team. Please verify each scholar in your homeroom and log if a meeting has already occurred. The expectation is that all scholars' parents have had a meeting logged in the system.
Upcoming AAP Dates:
- No later than March 11, 2019 - Faculty approved SY2019-2020 "Draft" AAP submitted to CAO for district review.
- Week of April 15, 2019 - Academic Office will notify school's core planning team if the AAP is rejected and include written reasons for rejection so school team can revise and resubmit.
- April 15- May 3, 2019 - School's core planning team will revise and resubmit. District and CTU leadership will be available to support teams with rewrites.
- May 6-May 14, 2019 - In the event a school fails to approve an AAP, or further, if a school fails to present a revised AAP that is satisfactory to the Academic Office, then the Academic Office and the President of the CTU will meet with the staff prior to May 14.

Say Yes Mentor Challenge
Message from CEO Gordon:
This week I'd like to challenge all CMSD educators to think about becoming a mentor! As you know Say Yes to Education Cleveland is creating a community united to ensure children have the opportunity and the support to earn a post-secondary credential and contribute to a thriving city center and a robust regional economy. As educators we know mentoring is a critical component in helping support students in graduating from college and realize their dreams. My challenge to anyone with a college degree is to help our students, network with other professionals and become a mentor to a graduating senior. It's easy, just click on the link and fill the out the College Now online application by April 1st. www.collegenowgc.org/become-a-mentor . You will then have a 15 minute phone interview and an hour orientation. That's all it takes! I can personally share by connecting with your mentee via two emails a month two lives will be changed! I hope that you consider being one of the 1,100 mentors needed to support the 2019 graduates in our Cleveland community. Let's reach for the stars and hit the 400 mark from the CMSD community to become mentors for our 2019 graduates! Click Here for details.
