Choir & Chimes Tour
Choir, Chimes, & Orchestra Concert
Orchestra Rental Nights
Middle School Orchestra
See you in Orchestra!
Students who participated in 5th grade orchestra are encouraged to continue to play their instrument in middle school. If your child didn’t participate in orchestra in 5th grade, they can still participate in middle school orchestra. Please contact the appropriate teacher below for more information.
In middle school, your child will be enrolled in 2 orchestra classes: a sectional class and a large group orchestra class. Sectional classes are specific to each instrument (violin class, viola class, cello class, or bass class) and large group orchestra is where all of the instruments come together. In middle school, all orchestra classes will be held during the school day. This means there are no more early morning orchestra rehearsals that meet before school begins. Additionally, orchestra students will have several performances throughout the school year, and orchestra is a year-long course that students can continue into high school and beyond.
Orchestra instruments should continue to be rented from one of our local music stores. Those stores are Christian Eggert Violins, Eckroth Music, and Schmitt Music. Over the summer, please visit your rental store to have your child re-sized. Orchestra instruments come in fractional sizes, which means your child may need a larger instrument. This is especially true if your child has grown a lot in the past year!
FPS is committed to making orchestra available to every student in our district. If financial assistance is needed to provide an instrument for your child, please use the contact information below to reach your child’s future teacher. Participation in orchestra can be affordable on almost any budget.
For more information, visit our FPS
Middle School Music Webpage.
