Author Visit: Diana Lopez
Diana Lopez is an English teacher and works at Centro Victoria, at the University of Houston Victoria. She is the author of Confetti Girl and Ask My Mood Ring How I Feel. Her works are also featured in the anthologies Hecho en Tejas and You Don’t Have a Clue. Mrs. Lopez was a guest on the NPR’s Latino USA, won the 2004 Alfredo Cisneros del Moral Award along with the 2012 William Allen White Award.
Diana Lopez visited Liberty Middle School On November 7th, to talk to students about her literary works. All 117 students attended the book discussion and received her book, Ask My Mood Ring How I Feel. Mrs. Lopez enlightened the students on her trials, tribulations, and success as an author. After her presentation, students got their books autographed.
Mentoring Program: Christmas Celebration
Mentor, Ms. Sanchez, invited her littles: Victor Aguilar, Andrew Alvarez, Jacob Cavazos, Jose Luis Gomez, Sebastian Hernandez, Jonathan Herrera, Carlos Iruegas Smith, Victor Lopez, Gabriela Porraz, Alejandro Reyes, and Erick Rodriguez to the library for a good read. The students sat attentively as Ms. Sanchez read, The Magic of Christmas, a Disney classic. Right after that they had a surprise visit by Santa Claus. The students then received a Christmas book The Nutcracker. They also received a bag of chocolate goodies from their Mentor Ms. Sanchez. The students enjoyed the visit and were glad to see Santa Claus. A special thanks goes to Mr. Adolfo Garica, Library Director, from the Pharr Memorial Library for his contribution in this event.
