Definition of Copyright
The collection of rights granted to the author of a piece of work.
5 Types of Licensing
Public Domain
Definition: Isn’t protected by copyright law because either the 1. Copyright has expired 2. The work was created using public money 3. The creator donated the work into the public domain
Freeware
Definition: Copyrighted work that you can use for free
Shareware
Definition: Copyrighted work that you can use for free but for only a limited time. If you want the full program for longer you have to pay for it. It is a free trial.
All Rights Reserved
Definition: Only allows the purchaser to use the software according to the details spelled out in the license agreement
Examples: Video games, movies, etc.
Open Source
Definition: Software that includes the source code with the idea that someone can improve it
