6th Grade OSCARS
On Thursday, all sixth graders attended the First Annual O.S.C.A.R. (Our Students Care About Reading) event at RMS! Our spectacular celebration honored all of the student's fantastic reading and writing. The students nominated their favorite books and authors in their Language Arts classes at the beginning of March. They were encouraged to read as many of the books from the nomination list as possible to become educated voters. The winning nominees were announced at the O.S.C.A.R.'S event and celebrated with some interactive games.

2023 Romeo Middle School
It’s time to lace up those running shoes and get ready to run! The 2023 Track and Field season is around the corner and we are thrilled to have you involved. The first practice will kick off the season on Monday, April 10. Daily practices will take place every day at 3:20 pm until 5 pm at Memorial Field. The first meet is on Wednesday, May 3. (See the link below for the full schedule.)
Middle School Track and Field encourages 7th and 8th graders to push themselves for their own personal gratification as well as a member of the Romeo team. Top times/distances will earn points for the team. There are no cuts in track and field; all athletes are allowed to participate. However, athletes must be dedicated and willing to practice and compete in their assigned race in order to be a member of the team. Both 7th and 8th graders have received an email form to fill out if they plan to participate.
If you are not familiar with Track and Field, please see the attached information link about the season. See Coach Paulson at room 605 or email her with any questions: amy.paulson@romeok12.org.
See you soon!

Greetings from the RMS Counseling office!
This week our nation was rocked again by a school shooting in Tennessee. The impact of this tragic event is felt from coast to coast, including in our community of Romeo. In the course of a year, our hearts have ached for Oxford, Michigan State, and now Nashville. These acts of violence are difficult to process, especially for our children. As adults, we may not know what to say or how to support them. If your child is struggling and would like to speak to someone about his or her fears surrounding school violence, please let them know that the counselors are available for them. In addition, if you need help with how to answer their questions, please either contact your child’s counselor, or refer to the resource Talking to Children about Violence: TIps for Parents and Teachers
The world we live in is challenging and it is hard not to be fearful, but fear cannot control us. It cannot replace the hope and happiness that all of our children deserve. Please know that Romeo Middle School will continue to put safety first and to be proactive in providing an environment where all students, staff, and parents feel accepted and safe. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s counselor for support.
6th Grade: What an amazing week with the first annual Oscars event for all of our 6th grade students. It was so much fun seeing them dressed up and excited about reading. Mr. Salembier and Mr. Czartoryski, along with all of the 6th grade teachers, really put on a show and all of us at RMS look forward to this event again in the future. MSTEP starts on Wednesday 4/12 and 4/13 with ELA Testing and then 4/19 and 4/20 with Math testing. Please ensure your child is here these days and their chromebook is charged.
7th Grade: Link Crew visits were awesome and the kids loved hearing from Romeo High School students! Please ask your student about the topic that was presented to them and what their takeaway was. We will begin ELA M-STEP testing on April 12th and April 13th. Please ensure your child is here these days and that their chromebook is charged. Have a relaxing, fun, and safe Spring Break!
8th Grade: Romeo High School Link Crew visited a few 8th grade classrooms to present on various topics! Please ask your student to share the topic that was presented to them and what their takeaway was. Thank you for all of your support in helping your student with their CollegeBoard account.
Here is the standardized testing schedule for 8th grade:
Wednesday, April 12th, 2023- PSAT 8
