Cloning

I'm Sierra and this is Kaitlyn and were here to talk to you about cloning! =)
What is Cloning?
Cloning is a process of making a copy of an identical plant or animal with the same molecules and cells.
cloning steps
First step
First you choose an adult to be cloned and remove its skin cells from that adult. Take an unfertilized egg from an adult female and remove its nucleus containing the DNA. The picture above shows what an unfertilized adult sheep egg looks like.
Second step
Electric pulse is applied causing the skin cell to fuse together with the egg also known as cell fusion. It comes to a little shock which causes the embryo to think it has been fertilized thus it grows.
Third step
Lastly, the early stage Embryo is implanted in the surrogate mother. The cloned animal then grows until born and you get a cloned animal! This illustration shows the first ever animal (Dolly) to be cloned.
How Cloning Help Our Environment
- Agricultural traits (ex:higher production of meat)
- produce a larger amount of milk out of cow
- increase population of endangered animal
- Clone cells, organs, tissues, to repair bodies until the end of our lives
