Tison Roo News 2017-18

Week of March 26th

Welcome to the Tison Middle School newsletter -- as a Tison parent, we want to ensure your involvement in your student's middle school life, and one way to do that is to keep you informed on what's going on at Tison.

This newsletter typically gets emailed to you on a weekly basis, and usually on a Friday afternoon. If you know a Tison parent who should be getting this newsletter and is not, please have him or her email Leah Greer at lgreer@weatherfordisd.com. Also, if you have any questions or concerns over any information from the newsletter, please email Mrs. Greer.

March is Women's History Month

The month of March is designated as Women's History Month in order to encourage girls to be educated in all areas in order to build a better future. The following website is a great resource for students regarding women's history:

https://ww2.kqed.org/education/2016/03/10/eight-resources-for-womens-history-month/.

Along with celebrating each individual life, we will also be studying the concept of making wise choices when angry, hopeless, or depressed. These strategies will be highlighted in the upcoming weeks through 6th grade advisory and 8th grade health classes.

8th Grade 4-Year Plans

The 4-Year Plans are to be finalized this week for 8th Graders. Be sure to contact your counselor for a time if you have not already signed, or have changes to be made.

Tison Tennis News

On Wednesday night, another team bit the dust as Tison Tennis EXTERMINATED the Azle Hornets. Azle didn’t know what hit them as Tison defeated them, officially winning 18-1. Talmage Melven had an extremely close tie-breaker, but just couldn’t pull off the win. Austin Markwardt, Luke Poston, Mathias Harmer, Shelbi Ruthesell, and Olivia Williams left no mercy winning their singles match without a game lost. Our doubles teams were undefeated! Congratulations to all those who won!!! Coach Light is extremely proud of you and can’t wait until our next match.

The week before spring break, Tison won the battle against Hall, officially winning 17-2. Conner Halverson, Austin Markwardt, Talmage Melven, Shelbi Ruthesell, Olivia Williams, and Marissa Bosco were extremely hungry and ate lots of bagels (meaning they did not lose any games). Again, congratulations to all those who won!!!
