THE COMMUNITY LION'S ROAR!

March 2023

Survey Due by Friday, March 24th

Recently, our LHS Student Council submitted a suggested revised dress code policy to the BOE for consideration. The BOE Policy Committee met with both of our current Student Council Advisors, and at the conclusion of the meeting, the BOE requested a survey be disseminated to staff, students, and our community for feedback.

Several years ago (2007- 2008), our current policy was developed with a committee that included: students, staff, and BOE members. Since a lot of time was taken to include the voice of the larger educational community at the time, they are looking to re-visit stakeholder feedback through this survey process.

I am asking for all parent / guardians to respond to the attached survey.

Survey responses are due on 3/24/23.

Mrs. Accardo, Mrs. Kessler, Mrs. Davidson, and Mrs. McCullen,

We hope you had an awesome week!

Our fourth grade students are learning what it means to play together and to follow a conductor. These students are playing along with the Hans Zimmer Orchestra. They students are learning that music can have color, by the instruments that are being played. As they study about composers, this class also learned a little bit how Hans Zimmer composes and also how he writes music for movies. The instruments being played are boomwhackers and xylophones, with two mallets. Listen closely and you can hear the students a roll, too. It's about a 6 minute video, but it is definitely worth a listen. Dr. O'Neil is most impressed with their students patience, restraint, and attention throughout this performance.

WE WAITED FOR YOU!

NOW WE ARE EXCITED TO WELCOME YOU!

Dear LMS Families:

I want to introduce myself as the new principal of Lindenwold Middle School. I am honored to serve with such an amazing school community. I look forward to meeting you and working with you, so that together, we can provide our students with the best instructional, social and growth opportunities.

I have over thirty years of experience in education. My journey began in higher education where I worked to implement programs and support services for students of color in Engineering, Business, and Public Policy at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and Princeton University. When my own children were in middle school, and needed their mom closer to home, I began teaching Spanish at the middle and high school level. For the past eight years, I have been an assistant principal at the elementary and secondary school levels.

I am excited to begin working with the LMS community to provide a safe place of learning and growing to our middle school students. I look forward to you becoming involved in your child’s education and having your voice heard in our school community. Feel free to contact me with your thoughts and ideas to make LMS a great place to learn.

Sincerely,

Alba M. Lugo, Ed.D.

BUT THIS........... SERIOUSLY?????

We always strive to hire the best of the best, but this shout out is really cool!

Our LHS nurse, Mrs. Sara Barry, flew to Albania this past week to share her teaching skills with U.S. soldiers stationed over seas. Albania was calling so we had to share her amazing services.

We miss her terribly and can't wait for her safe return. But in the meantime, we wish Mrs. Barry and all of her partner medics good health and safety while serving our country. Please keep her and all of our troops overseas in your good thoughts and in your heart.

Boy, are we lucky she spends most of her days stationed at Lindenwold High School!

WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!

The Lindenwold School District hosts two Unified teams: one at LHS and one at LMS. "Unified" is part of the Special Olympics programming that promotes social inclusion through shared sports training and competition experiences. Unified Sports joins people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team. It was originated and inspired by a simple principle: training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding.

Lindenwold is so proud of our Unified events, and we love welcoming other districts to our schools.
