Ms. Waldrip-Thinglink Biome Projects
Students researched a specific biome
and learned how to cite and include Creative Commons media in their projects using resources curated on the LJHS Library website.
Mrs. Coston's FACS Classes-Digital Citizenship
Students learned
about the importance of building a positive Digital Footprint and its role in their future plans for work and schooling.
Students were given
tools to check their Digital Footprint and resources to delete social media accounts.
Students were taught
how to set up Google alerts on their social media usernames.
Eisele Science Maker Projects-Coding with Finch Robots
Students from Ms. Eisele's science classes
investigated the capabilities of the Finch Robots. The robots can be programmed to sense temperature, , speak, create music and
Students also wrote programs so
the Finches to draw letters and shapes.
Students built mazes for their final projects
Success was measured by whether the programs students created allowed the Finch robots to successfully navigate the mazes they created.

Valentine's Day Circuit Scribe Maker Activity-Make a Valentine's Treat for Someone Sweet!
Students
drew their electrical circuits on to the card paper with Circuit Scribe pens.
Students
then attached a watch battery and connected the mini LED lights to complete the circuits.

Maker Lab in Action
Coach Huff's Stem Projects
Pringle Protection Can Designs
Students designed
containers in the LJHS Maker Lab to protect a Pringle potato chip.
Students sent their containers
all over the district to other middle schools and junior high schools.
Student success
was measured by whether or not the Pringle arrived back at Lakeside intact or not.
Coach Huff's Students designed bridges
Students built their bridges out of
Popsicle sticks, cardboard, cups, duct tape, Legos and other materials.
The goal was to see which bridge
would hold the most weight.
Students tested their designs
Bridges were so well designed
that Coach Huff had to bring weights in from the LJHS weight room!
One bridge was able to hold
over 200 pounds.
Genius Hour-Code name Megalodon
Student library aides who have developed outstanding time management skills have been given the opportunity to work on a Genius Hour project whenever they have finished their daily library tasks. Our first student selected project was to disassemble and take an old computer out of its case and reassemble it in a cardboard box. The students named this project the code name Megalodon.

Students discussed cultural traditions and their impressions of American presidential candidates including Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.
Show and Tell Hangout with Lakeside Hot Springs High School
Continuing the tradition of Lakeside Squared Hangouts, we held one during Teen Tech Week where students from both schools displayed their maker projects.

Celebrating Women's History Month
Students aides worked in groups
to create a summary "tee shirt" about a famous Arkansas woman.
After creating the tee shirt
students used the library OPAC to locate titles about their life.
The displays
featured several titles about each woman's contributions to Arkansas' history.
Ms. Holt's French class Mardi Gras floats!
Students selected a theme.
...and created
a Mardi Gras float parade in the LJHS Library!
