Little Cypress Elementary
November 2022 Newsletter
A Note from the Principal
Dear Little Cypress Elementary Families,
It’s hard to believe we’ve already completed the first two six weeks of school.
There are so many great things happening in classrooms at LCE, and I look forward to finishing the 2022 year off well.
Please remember that every day of instruction matters, so school attendance is key.
I’m very excited about our fall book fair. As you know, we want all students to love reading, so we are pushing literacy in every way possible. Please try to join your child for their library time or for our family night on Wednesday, November 9th, from 3:15 to 5:30.
Finally, if you are seeing great things from our staff members, please use this new form to give a “shout out” or celebration.
I will pass along the great news to our staff members and also feature staff shout outs in every month’s newsletter.
We’ll start with one that I received from a PTO parent who volunteered with Nurse Coleman completing our hearing and vision screenings.
“There are a couple of kindergarten teachers who have stuck out to me. Ms. Roy is very upbeat, and I can tell she is making great connections with her students. Mrs. Gollihar was also a picture of best practice as she kept students engaged in learning even while out and about. They quietly practiced letter sounds and blending while waiting to check their eyes. She is doing a great job.” – Bonnie Fruge, PTO Volunteer
Again, it’s an honor to serve LCE, and if there’s anything I can do for your family, please reach out.
Amber Hawk, Principal

Sleep in Heavenly Peace
The very first few days of school we were made aware of three of our students who did not have beds and were sleeping on the floor. With just four phone calls, Sleep in Heavenly Peace was able to secure new beds, mattresses, and linens for our three students. When they assessed the need at the home, they also gave out two more beds.
They said this was the first time beds were delivered in our school district, and we know there are likely more needs out there. We would like to raise awareness about this organization because it’s a great community resource.
I have designated that Giving Tuesday, November 29th, will be a pajama day on campus where we will collect funds to give to them. All students will get to wear pajamas, but we will ask that students bring a financial donation if families are able. If you’d like to get more involved, the organization also needs volunteers, has merchandise for sale, etc.
