CLMS Family Update

November 11, 2022

From CLMS Principal, Mr. Eric Pettit

Good Afternoon CLMS Families!

As we do each November 11th, CLMS takes a moment to pause and thank those that have served, are currently serving, or will serve in the United States Armed Forces. We are forever grateful for those that serve and protect our country! CLMS is honored to have four veterans on staff serving our students. Our veterans include: Mr. Michael Martin, CLMS Evening Custodian, Mr. Joel Nichols, CLMS Gym Teacher, Mr. Tom Hack, 5th Grade Math Teacher, and Mrs. Ann Marie Thomas, 7th/8th Grade Intervention Specialist.

CLMS has a a busy few weeks ahead before we hit our Thanksgiving Break! Quarter 2 is in full swing and students and staff continue to work hard. A special thank you to all of those families that attended Parent/Teacher conferences last night. Almost all of our slots were booked for our 5th-7th grade teams! Our next conference night will be in early February.

Please continue in this newsletter as we highlight our positive interventions in the building, accessing student report cards, and more! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the middle school office!

As always, Go Pirates!

CLMS Classroom Highlight- Positive Behavior Interventions and Support

Big picture
Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) is a school-wide system that promotes and supports the great things students are doing around the building. Rather than focusing on the negative, PBIS aims to highlight the positives. Students receive stamps on their "Pirate Champ Cards" for doing things such as holding the door open for a classmate, helping to pick up the classroom, waiting patiently for instructions, and so much more! Once students have 20 stamps on their card, they can visit the Pirate Chest each Friday for a small prize and place their ticket in a drawing for one of two $15 gift cards that are raffled during every Friday Video Announcements. Families are encouraged to ask their students if they received any stamps each day!
