The ARIS Home Connection

December 2018 & January 2019

The Auten Road Intermediate School community believes that high achievement and the overall success of our students can be accomplished through strong partnerships involving parents/guardians, students, educators, and community members. Each of us plays an important role.

It is the intent and hope that this monthly communication will help provide important reminders and information about upcoming events, as well as to serve as a link for you to your child's school.

Building Access

The main doors to the school are locked until 6:30 p.m. each day. Although families are still able to gain access to our school (by ringing the the front door bell) through 4:30 p.m., please note, between 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. the doors will be locked and there will be no one to answer the door bell. Should you need to gain access to the school after dismissal time, it is recommended that you do so prior to 4:30 p.m. or after 6:30 p.m.

Reporting Your Child's Absence

If your child is going to be absent, you have two options for reporting it. You may notify the ARIS attendance line by phone at (908) 431-6600, press 3 for ARIS, and follow the prompts OR simply submit the information via the Parent Portal in Genesis. To submit via the Parent Portal.

After login, you will see links to “notify attendance office” on both the student summary page or under the attendance tab. Once on the Notify Attendance Office page in the portal, you will be able to choose whether the student will be absent or tardy. You may choose one date or a date range and will have a comment box where an explanation can be provided regarding the tardy/absence. Once notification is submitted to the Attendance Office, the portal screen will maintain a historical record of this and any prior notifications submitted.

IMPORTANT: Please don't use both methods for the same absence. Use one or the other.

Holiday Wear Guidelines

In keeping with our dress code, students should not be wearing hats (i.e. Santa Hats) in school until Friday, Dec. 21 when we have School Spirit Day focusing on the "holidays." It is acceptable, however, for students to wear holiday related “headbands” so long as it doesn’t interfere with learning or the learning of others (blocking views, jingling, etc).

Thank you to all who have donated items and loose change to the "Auten Road Gives Back" - Operation Shoe Box Campaign. There is still a little time left to reach our goal of $200 to support the shipping costs of the items collected. If we hit the $200 mark, Mr. Carey will color his hair and beard the color that the students select!
