Newsletter for the Midwest District of the Missionary Church

Reminder from the Psalms

In Psalm 9, David encourages us with these words: "I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and rejoice in you, I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High." As we reflect on some of the happenings within the Midwest District of the Missionary Church, may our hearts be filled with praise to God, and may we have hope as we consider what God might accomplish in the days to come.

Thank You from the Petros

Ramona and I want to say “Thank you” for your generosity this past Christmas season. We count it a privilege to serve you, and we look forward to continued partnership in ministry in the coming year. God bless you!

Sanctuary Dedication in Newton, KS

On January 26th, approximately 160 people gathered at First Missionary Church in Newton, KS for the dedication of their new sanctuary. This service culminated a series of events that began in 1968 when First Missionary Church purchased a small church building in Newton from a Free Methodist congregation that was relocating. In 1995 a fellowship hall/multi-function addition was completed and that addition served as their sanctuary until now. In June of last year they broke ground and construction began on their long-anticipated sanctuary. Today they are rejoicing in God's goodness and enjoying this newly completed facility which is dedicated to the service of God and to His glory!

Midwest District Conference

On March 23rd and 24th, pastors, delegates and guests from the Midwest District will gather at Hillside Missionary Church in Clarinda, IA for the 52nd annual District Conference. Beginning with the dinner on Monday evening, conference will continue through Tuesday afternoon. In addition to the normal business proceedings, Missionary Church president, Rev. Steve Jones, will be speaking on several occasions on the topic "You Will Receive Power." There is still time to register for the conference and reserve housing at the Cobblestone Inn and Suites before the March 2nd deadline. Check the district website (themidwestdistrict.com) for further details.

Ordination

On the day that Newton's First Missionary Church dedicated their new sanctuary, the congregation also had the privilege of witnessing the ordination of Ray Anthony Adams II. Anthony, who grew up in a pastor's home, gave his heart to the Lord as a 7th grader, and has been growing in Christ ever since. As a sophomore in high school, on a missions trip to Bolivia, he sensed God's call to the ministry. Since that time there were many questions as to what the fulfillment of that call might look like. However, he is firmly convinced that God has now led him and his family to serve in the ministries at FMC in Newton.
