Field Days- Volunteers Still Needed- This Week and Next Week!
It is hard to believe that this will be the last PE newsletter of the year. It seems like just yesterday that we were coming back from summer vacation. This newsletter will be short on opinion and long on timelines and dates that are very important for RMCS PE.
For the first time in 3 years, I will be able to offer our annual and traditional end of the year PE celebration called Field Days. We do 6 Field Days, one for every grade level. Classes come out for 2 hours of movement fun! Some of the events are things we have done in PE and others are classic fun Field Day events. We also have included a lot of water events so that kids can do activities and cool off at the same time.
Below is a list of Field Days for 2022:
AM session - 9 -11 AM - (unless otherwise indicated.)
PM session - 12:15 -2:15 PM - ( Unless otherwise indicated)
Friday, June 3rd - AM - 2nd grade PM - Kindergarten (*starts at 12 noon)
Monday, June 6th - AM - 1st grade PM - 4th grade
Tuesday, June 7th - AM - 3rd grade PM - 5th grade
Wednesday/Thursday - June 8th and 9th - RAIN DATES
**Your RMCS student needs the following for Field Days: 1) swimsuit under clothes ( We have a lot of water events.) 2) Towel to sit on and/or dry off with, 3) sunscreen 4) water to drink 5) a water/squirt bottle for our Grand Finale - the Water Bottle Battle. 6) **VERY IMPORTANT - Please have kids wear sneakers or slip ons. We have had problems in the past if kids go barefoot or wear sandals with bees, rocks, and sticks in our area.
**All students will receive a traditional Field Day prize that will help them to stay active during the summer and beyond.
**BIG favor to ask - We ALWAYS need parent helpers for each grade level for Field Days. The “work” is fun and it really helps “Mr. Field Day” - a lot. The more parents we have, the smoother Field Days go!! If you can help, it would be greatly appreciated. You can contact Erin Sutherland and the PTO and let them know you can come and help with your child’s/children’s Field Day. Thank you in advance for your help.
**PLEASE email me with any questions about Field Days - dday@sbschools.net.
I am very excited to be offering Field Days again!!! If you had FUN, you WON!!

COMMON ROOTS -FARM TO SCHOOL SUMMER FUN!
Hi Families and Friends!
What a wonderful year of Farm to School! Nora, Alyson and I were so thrilled to be able to deliver lessons to Grades K - 5 this year. We tasted a lot of fun recipes, learned about so many nutritional benefits of the foods we were eating, discussed the culture and history behind many foods, and got outside to plant some seeds in May! If you were hoping to access all of the recipes we made this year, I have compiled a document with everything in one place. We hope you’ll find some time this summer to do some cooking with the family. Here is the link to our recipes:
