“Look upon yourself as a tree planted beside the water, which bears its fruit in due season; the more it is shaken by the wind, the deeper it strikes its roots into the ground.” -- Margaret Mary Alacoque

Please pray for the families and friends of our SMM community who have asked for our prayers. If you would like us to pray for a loved one, please send Coach Gay an email:

For all service men and women; first responders; police; firefighters; health care workers; and everyone who is keeping us safe, protected, and fed during the COVID 19 crisis.

Simone Boell, Dale McCloskey, Dale Davis, Cherie Manuel, Paula Satterlee, Lorraine Olmo, Jessica Bodron, Mike Champagne, Lisa Ferrer, Dr. Joel Fokom, and the Comeaux and Boudreaux Families.

For the repose of the soul of Mrs. Secrist's Mother and Kennedy Brindell's Great Garndmother, Augusta Flanagan; for her family and friends; and for all those who mourn her loss.

For all those sick and suffering from the Coronavirus, may they recover quickly and completely.

For all those who suffered loss of life or property during Hurricane Laura; may they receive the comfort, resources, and help needed for a quick and complete recovery.

Our Lady of Prompt Succor, please protect us from damage to life and property during this hurricane season.

Dear parents,

In our zeal to share our excitement regarding our students, one or two of our teachers and I may have shared your child's image on our personal social media accounts -- for that I am truly sorry. I have since deleted any reference to students on my personal account and will most definitely refrain from doing so moving forward.

In our handbook, you gave the privilege of sharing your child's information as listed below, "St. Margaret Mary School retains the right to use the names, voices, and/or likeness of our students faculty, parents, and staff in school-related publications, audiovisual and electronic transmissions, etc., without compensation or reimbursement to the parties involved. These items may include, but are not limited to, photographs, video tapes, live broadcasts, sound recordings, and electronic transmission."

I apologize for this failure in protocol and assure you that it has been addressed with our faculty. In the future, only the school authorized social media accounts will be used for this purpose as stated in the policy.

Thank you,

Chris Collins

What does it mean for SMM? Really not much. The mask mandate is still in place. Schools have some restrictions that other businesses do not. Static groups must still be maintained with one exception - students in grades 3 - 7 may intermingle homerooms while at recess as long as they follow the established SMM safe social distancing and masking rules. Students must still wash and/or sanitize their hands before and after certain activities. Teachers must still wipe down high activity areas.

One bit of good news ... we will be able to start piano and choir soon. Mrs. Tiffany Brewer, SMM piano instructor and choir director, took a temporary sub position at PJP, but will be returning to SMM in a few weeks.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call school administration. We are the official source of information regarding SMM policies and procedures, events and activities, SMM calendar, Phase III, etc. Thank you.

The Archdiocese Office of Catholic Schools is currently reviewing the admissions process and high school open house schedule. Our awesome PTO is in search of a few new team members to serve in the following positions:

Board Members: Secretary, President Elect, and Vice President of Fundraising.

Committee Chairs & Members: Teacher Luncheons, Book Fair, Annual Fundraiser, and Spirit Day/Fundraising Nights.

Many people may be hesitant to volunteer for the PTO; but the more people who volunteer, the less work there is for everybody. If you are one of the hesitant parents, ask a friend to volunteer with you ... then your tasks and time will be cut in half AND you will have fun!

Our SMM PTO is an awesome organization. Our PTO provides services and support for our children and school. Our PTO plays an integral part in the success of our school.

If you want to be a part of our team, please contact Kelly Songy:
