Principal's Notes and Highlights
CSA Lincoln Students and Families,
We are only one day away from Open House and two days away from the start of the school year! Teachers were back in the building today and we rolled out our theme. In the past we have done Mighty Ducks and Ferris Bueller's Day Off for our kick-off. This year's focus is from the movie Friday Night Lights. Coach Gary Gaines gives a speech to his team about what being perfect means and really captures the essence of what we are striving for.
"Being perfect is about being able to look your friends in the eye and know that you didn't let them down because you told them the truth. And that truth is you did everything you could. There wasn't one more thing you could’ve done. Can you live in that moment as best you can, with clear eyes, and love in your heart, with joy in your heart? If you can do that gentleman – you’re perfect!”
– Coach Gary Gaines, from Friday Night Lights
Here is what I told our team. We are going to make mistakes as we push ourselves to new levels. That's part of it. Our goal is to fail forward. Make mistakes, learn from them and keep getting better. Being perfect is being willing to take a hard look at areas where you can improve and then doing something about it. So, Tuesday you'll see us wearing our coaching shirts, hats and clipboards as we take on the role of coaches.
- I shared with them a video that many of our students helped create ("Being Perfect '17). I'm always impressed with how committed our students and parents are at going above and beyond and this video is a great example. We want to be perfect for our students. They deserve it! You can view it below.
- Our team is really pumped about this year starting. I included a short video (Dance If You Love School!) of just how excited we are to get students back in the building!
- If you ordered school supplies through the PTO, it will be in your student's classroom for Open House tomorrow.
See you soon!
