A Note From Our Principal, Mrs. Lee
It's hard to believe that we are already into the month of November! Though the weather might be turning a little colder, I truly hope that studies are heating up for our students.
Please remember that we need all students at school every day unless they are sick and/or running a fever. Our school hours are 8:15 am-3:40 pm. If your child is absent, please send a note with them once they return to school.
Benefits of Good School Attendance
- Students who miss fewer days become better readers.
- Good attendance habits pay off! More school days attended increases a child’s academic success, and improves their chances to earn a high school diploma and a college degree.
- School keeps you safe, educates you, and prepares you for your future.
Thank you for your continued support. Take care!
Library News
Happy Fall Hairgrove Families.
Thank you for all you do to support the library. If you have any questions about The Hairgrove Library, the mobile library, or our upcoming book fair, please email me at gisela.anderson@cfisd.net
The CyFair ISD Mobile Library will be at the Chimney Hill Community Center on Saturday, November 5 from 12:30-2:30. Stop by to check out books and have a snack. Mobile Library books can be returned here at Hairgrove. The community center is located at 13720 Smokey Trail.
The Scholastic Book Fair is returning to Hairgrove the week of November 28! We look forward to seeing you shopping the fair at Family Literacy Night on December 1. More information will go home on Thursdays in November. You are able to set up an eWallet so your student can shop cash free during the school day. You choose the amount they are allowed to spend. As a way to promote this new way to pay, the library will be hosting daily drawings for free books from the fair for students who sign up for eWallet. You can sign up for eWallet beginning November 7 at the link below:
Car Riders
Morning Car Riders:
- Our staff members will be outside in the morning to greet your children from 7:50 – 8:15. After 8:15, you will need to sign your child in to school for the day. We use the inside office clock for the official time.
- Please have your child ready to exit the passenger side of the vehicle with all of their belongings gathered and their backpacks already on when you pull into the parking lot.
- If you are getting off the vehicle to help your child get out of the car during the car rider line, please park and walk them up to the front door.
- If your child is having difficulty exiting the vehicle, please park and walk them up to the front door.
- Please remember that there is only one lane of traffic in the mornings. It is very important that you adhere to this request for the safety of all students and staff members.
Afternoon Car Riders:
- As a reminder, Texas state law prevents the use of a cell phone when driving in a school zone.
- Please remember to have your car rider tag hanging from your rear view mirror. If the tag is on the dash then it is not easily seen by the staff members and this delays your child getting to your car in a timely manner.
Music Notes
Hello Hairgrove Family and Friends!
Our dolphins continue to work hard and have fun in music class this past month! Kinder and 1st grade students have been discovering the steady beat and we are starting to realize sometimes it changes. When music feels fast or slow it’s because the steady beat changes! We have a new friend named “Bee Bee Bumble Bee” who I am sure our little dolphins can tell you all about!
2nd graders can identify the steady beat easily by now and are starting to discover rhythm (the way the words go) in rhymes and songs. We have had a lot of fun singing and playing “Apple Tree” lately.
3rd grade students have been working so hard on their November program pieces. They have access to practice at home through Schoology! If you want a sneak peek of what’s in their upcoming program, have them show you on their computers. I can’t wait for their performance on Thursday, November 17th!
Our 4th and 5th grade dolphins learned a stick passing game called “Sarasponda” they can sing for you. They amazed me with the way they never gave up as they tried to learn this new game demonstrating great beats and rhythm keeping skills!
Important Musical Announcements:
All 3rd Grade students will be invited to perform at our 3rd Grade Music Program on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. We will need all 3rd graders there that night at 5:40 p.m. so they are ready to perform on the cafeteria stage!
4th & 5th Grade Choir program is Thursday, December 1st at 5:30! We will continue to practice every Thursday this month preparing for this performance. Students will need to be picked up in the back parking lot at 5:00 p.m. every Thursday from rehearsal.
I am so thankful to teach all of these amazing dolphins. Thank you so much for sharing them with me. I hope to see you soon at one of our upcoming performances!

ART NEWS
Hairgrove Families! Making art isn’t just about sketching or painting, it’s about building strong creative muscles that allow daily creativity to be possible, exciting and fun! Take time this month to try some of the creative starters below to start your journey of building your creative muscles as a family!
- Draw all of the ingredients to your favorite meal individually, then what it looks like when it is prepared.
- Try creating art with something edible (paint with coffee, collage with candy, draw with mustard, etc.).
- Find the closest living thing to you right now (houseplant, family member, pet). Write five sentences about their secret identity.
- Create an advertisement for your favorite family movie or TV show.
- Collage found objects to create different color values in the color wheel.
In Art class, we are working on our drawings for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Art contest. We are drawing farms, barns, chickens, cows, pigs, cowboys and more! Each student has the opportunity to have their artwork chosen to represent Hairgrove! Everyone is doing a great job so far. Stay tuned!
- Ms. Bell
A Note from Coach Dyson
Hello Parents,
Football season is in full swing, and we are playing lots of lead-up football games and working on footwork and coordination. It is never out of season for you to talk to your student about good sportsmanship, respect, and fair play as a continuation of our classroom conversations that create a safe culture for our very large and busy area! Safety is always in season!
