A Note From Mrs. Larson

HI Wonderful families.


Just two more weeks till the end of the school year. It has been so exciting to have everyone back on campus and to see the Distance learning students working on some cool projects.


We are planning a really special last day of school where we are inviting all students to the morning session from 8:30 - 11:00. This means distance learning students as well. If you choose not to return that's ok we will make sure you are aware of your modified schedule for the day.


Your teacher will be sending out more detailed information so please be aware of the schedule for the last day Friday June 4th.

McKinley Film Festival

Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s McKinley Film Festival. We had over 30 entries between 3rd through 8th grade. The submitted films showed amazing filmmaking skills through stop-motion, silent, documentary, animation, live-action, etc. We are so proud of everyone who created films on such a short timeline during distance learning and hybrid. We look forward to hosting another festival next year, and we can’t wait to see how everyone’s talents will evolve. Please enjoy the compilation of the McKinley and PACS films! GATE Testing Update

GATE Update May 2021

Hello PCS Third Grade Families,

Every year our Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) identification cycle occurs in winter and early spring. The cycle for GATE identification consists of a cognitive abilities screener assessment, identification and recommendation of gifted and talented students, and parent confirmation of their student being identified as GATE in our district. This year, our cycle has been interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The testing process requires that we test all students in person. Given the restrictions that have been and continue to be in place, we have postponed GATE testing in our district to the Fall of 2021.

When we return in person this Fall, we will test our current third-grade students (who will then be fourth-grade students) by September 30, 2021. We will complete identifying GATE students from the Fall testing and notify families of the results.

In February and March, we will shift back to our normal cycle of testing the third-grade students (who are currently second-grade students). We will review the results from those assessments to identify GATE students and share the results with families.

Home/Broadband/Internet Benefit

The Emergency Broadband Benefit Program is a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) program that provides a temporary discount on monthly broadband bills for qualifying low-income households. If your household is eligible, you can receive:
  • $50 / month toward broadband service
  • $100 one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase laptop, desktop, or tablet if they contribute more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase price.
Eligible households can enroll through an approved provider or by visiting GetEmergencyBroadband.org.

Safe Routes To School

  • It’s our last Walk and Roll to Anywhere Week of the school year and also the beginning of May Bike2It! month! We have some awesome, fun activities and a great way to share the information is to show our fantastic Video Commercial!
  • Please also share our Parent Survey (English Spanish) with your parent community—their responses will really help to inform our program (and they might win a $50 gift card to a local business of their choice!).

Your auction items will be available for pick up in front of the office entrance at the following times:


  • Monday, May 24: 8:00am-8:30pm and 3:00pm-3:30-pm
  • Tuesday, May 25: 8:00am-8:30pm and 3:00pm-3:30-pm

The items available for pick up at that time are physical items like gift certificates, baskets, and wine.

If those times do not work for you, please let Enelia Faithful know at mckmustangcommunications@gmail.com to make alternate arrangements.

If you paid for teacher experiences or buy-in parties, you will be contacted by the hosts closer to the event date.
