Mask Up--the Correct Way!
All of our students have been doing a wonderful job wearing masks and social distancing as we have reopened our schools. Face coverings/masks protect the wearer and those around them. However, it is important that the face-covering/mask fit appropriately and made of the appropriate materials. The most effective masks are made of: tightly woven fabrics, such as cotton and cotton blends; breathable; and two or three layers. Less effective fabrics for cloth masks are: loosely woven fabrics, such as loose knit fabrics; difficult to breathe through (like plastic or leather); and single layer. The CDC does not recommend using masks with exhalation valves or vents because this type of mask may not prevent you from spreading COVID-19 to others. The hole in the material may allow your respiratory droplets to escape and reach others. Please do not send students to school with masks that have exhalation valves. If your student needs a mask each school has a supply as needed. Please visit https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/cloth-face-cover-guidance.html for additional guidance from the CDC on mask wearing.
