Norris News!
A weekly update from campus...
October 26, 2018
It’s been so fun to see such creativity for our Red Ribbon Week dress up days! See some pictures below.
Our PTA and students are gearing up for our Norris Fun Run which takes place on Friday, November 2nd. The theme this year is MindSpark where our students solve mysteries while learning the character traits that will strengthen themselves and our world! If we reach our ultimate goal, Mrs. Tobey and Mrs. Snyder will be made into human sundaes!! It sounds very sticky!
Our first Student Showcase of the year is coming on Thursday! It would be great to see lots of students and families come and support our singers and dancers!! I can’t wait to see the impressive talent we have at Norris!
Please remember that we DO NOT wear Halloween costumes to school on Halloween day!

Important Norris Information
Dismissal at Norris is a very busy time. To help with this, we ask that if you are signing out your student for dismissal, please be here NO LATER than 2:45 pm. After that time, you will need to pick up your student from their normal dismissal location. We do not dismiss students from the front office. Thank you for your support!
DISMISSAL CHANGES
If your child is going home in a means different than their set plan, you must send an email to your teacher by noon of that day. If your child does not have a note, or an email has not been received by their teacher by NOON, he/she will be sent home by the usual means. Please know that the safety of your child is always our number one priority.
LUNCH DROP-OFF
If you are dropping off your student's lunch, for your convenience we have lunch drop off bins in our lobby. Please drop lunches off NO LATER than 10 minutes before your student's lunch time. Any later is disruptive to your student and the lunch monitors. Thank you for your help! Here are the lunch times:

- 1st grade - 11:00 am
- 2nd grade - 11:30 am

Fun Run
Thank you to the Independence High School Cheerleaders & Drumline for helping us kick off our Fun Run this week! The Fun Run is our fitness-based fall fundraiser where students collect pledges (usually per lap) ahead of time. On November 2nd, all students will run laps during their Specials time outside. It's a lot of fun, & you are all invited to come out & support your kiddos that day! Our goal is to raise $20,000, and we need your help! Register your student on funrun.com, using our school’s registration code 134-482 or by searching for our school name. Enter all pledges at funrun.com, and your student will be rewarded the very next day. Plus, this year, every student will receive a FREE gift just for being a student at Norris and your student will receive a FREE prize just for being registered on funrun.com! We appreciate your support!
Staff Fall Breakfast
Thank you to everyone for the wonderful donations towards our Fall Staff Breakfast this morning! It was a wonderful start to the day showing our teachers & staff how much we appreciate them!
Reflections
The due date for Reflections art projects has been extended to November 2nd! We would love for all students to participate! This year’s theme is Heroes Around Me, and the categories include dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts. With positive recognition as the focus of the Reflections program, rather than competition, students of all ages and abilities can experience the benefits of creative expression and help in finding their own voice in telling their unique story. If you have any questions, please contact Divya at diviashu@gmail.com. We are looking forward to seeing all the projects!
