Winston-Salem Foundation Scholarships
The Winston-Salem Foundation's 93 year old student aid program reaches back to 1923, when the first student loan fund was established at the Foundation.
The Foundation offers scholarships for students according to varying criteria chosen by the donors who establish these funds. Some awards are one-time, while many are renewable for an additional three years.
You can apply for most scholarships by completing the Foundation's one-stop scholarship application, while other scholarships utilize their own application process outside of the Foundation. The application opened January 1, 2017 and closes April 3, 2017.
Visit The Winston-Salem Foundation's website at https://www.wsfoundation.org/page.aspx?pid=344 and apply.

Searching and Applying for Scholarships:
If someone said they would give you $500 if you wrote an essay on why you need a scholarship for college, would you do it? Of course you would! Getting scholarship money to help with college expenses can be as simple as that! Don’t lose out on scholarship opportunities by not applying! Searching for scholarships is FREE and does not cost you anything but time…and can mean extra money in your pocket and even less loan debt.
Some online scholarship databases are:
College Foundation of North Carolina www.cfnc.org
FastWeb www.fastweb.org
The Winston-Salem Foundation www.wsfoundation.org
The Crosby Scholarship Database: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13aZ0c4S7L9tapUu9y6s7-3enm9oDsCkYWic2LLTWOVM/edit#gid=872829825
Remember: Do not pay for scholarships. If they are legitimate, there will not be a fee associated with them.
Local places to look for scholarships includes civic organizations, employers and churches. It never hurts to ask if scholarships are available and how to apply.
If you have missed the deadlines this year, remember to apply next year.
Look for scholarship opportunities each year while you are in college.
Forgivable Education Loans for Service
Forgivable Education Loans for Service through CFNC for Teaching, Allied Health, Nursing and Medicine may be for you!
Check them out at : https://www.cfnc.org/FELS
The Forgivable Education Loans for Service Program was established by the North Carolina General Assembly to provide assistance to qualified students who are committed to working in North Carolina in designated critical employment shortage professions. Students interested in receiving assistance through the FELS Program should read the loan forgiveness eligibility requirements for the educational programs and the FELS Program Rules prior to submitting an application. Students who do not fulfill the service requirements must repay the loan in cash, plus interest that begins to accrue upon disbursement of the loan.
