Danby Rush Tower Middle School
August 13, 2021
It's a GREAT day to be a Bluejay!
To achieve those goals, regular attendance and punctuality are important for students to gain the most from their educational experiences. When your child is tardy, absent, or leaves school early, it will be noted on his or her attendance record. A summary of attendance will be located on student progress reports and report cards.
If your child is going to be absent, please call our office (636-937-9188) before school so we are assured of your child’s safety. If you forget to call, our school nurse will call you to verify the absence. If a child’s attendance becomes a matter of concern, our counselor, Mrs. Tessaro, may contact the parent or guardian to offer support.
Please try to schedule appointments around school hours. We want our students here as much as possible to maximize their learning opportunities!

Arrival and Dismissal
Please remember that arrival time for Danby MS students is between 7:00 and 7:26 am. In order to ensure appropriate supervision each morning, students should not arrive before 7:00 a.m. as teachers are not on duty yet. Classes begin at 7:30 a.m.
Dismissal for parent pick-ups takes place first (around 2:35 pm). Our 6th grade students will be dismissed through the front entrance doors and the 7th/8th grade students will be dismissed through the band and gymnasium doors. Bus riders are dismissed once the buses arrive and are lined up in front at the Danby entrance area. Thank you for following these procedures to support a safe, efficient dismissal each day.
Breakfast and Lunch
Breakfast and lunch are served daily in the cafeteria. This year school districts will continue to to provide free meals for students through the end of the 2021-2022 school year due to the extension of the nutrition waivers. However, if your child would like to purchase any a la carte items, they will need to have money in their lunch accounts in order to purchase these items.
Also, we ask that you still complete the Free and Reduced Forms for 2021-2022 school year. These forms can be found in our First Day Packets sent home on the August 23rd.
School Safety Updates for 2021-2022
Improvements have been made this summer to our safety features at school regarding visitors to the District. The entry process and expectations are as follows:
- Visitors must scan their ID at the Raptor kiosk (located in the front foyer) for every visit to gain entry into the building past the front foyer.
- Upon approval, visitors will be buzzed into the office to receive their ID sticker from office staff.
- Visitors, not needing to enter the building may continue to "buzz” in at the A/V box outside our school's front office door for assistance.
While these changes are not as convenient as the past, they help to add more security to our school to keep our children as safe as possible! Thank you for your cooperation with these important safety measures!
