BLEND Tips: how to submit an "Assignment"
It's our SEL Week!
Ms. Urbano: Yoga
My escape from reality is yoga. I may not be the best at it, but I love doing 15-20 minutes every day so I can stretch my body and get ready for life's daily challenges. I find that stretching my body makes it easier to do activities like run, dance, and even helps with the pain of sitting down most of the day with our new long-distance learning changes. My favorite YouTube yoga instructor is Yoga by Candice. She has some great beginner yoga videos and some short ones too! Check her out, and yoga on!

Mrs. Spann: Long Walks
The last thing I’ve been doing is taking long walks with my puppy, Rosie :) she loves getting outside too and jumps SO HIGH when she sees her leash for a walk! Her joy is contagious and always makes me smile! I hope you all are finding little ways to relax and de-stress during this crazy time - we miss you all!!

Mrs. Sterneman: Memories & Breathing
This is a picture of me from a long time ago when I took a trip to Switzerland! It was so beautiful. When I’m worried or scared, I close my eyes, take 3 deep breaths and imagine I’m still lying in that beautiful meadow in the sunshine. It works really well for having to get a shot at the doctor’s office. These days, when I’m stressed I go lie down in my hammock in my backyard. It’s my new happy place.
My son puts on his headphones and listens to music he really likes when he’s stressed. Here’s one of my favorite pieces of music to listen to when I need to calm down. It’s called Pavane in F# minor by Gabriel Fauré.
My daughter really likes the Peace Out videos by Cosmic Kids Yoga, and has been listening to one every night before she goes to sleep. This one is a story you tell yourself in your imagination about a balloon. I hope you’re doing well and finding ways to stay calm. We miss you, but we’ll see you again soon!

Mrs. Dono: Journalism
I like to keep a daily journal, but, I put entries in the day after! I do this so I can practice, TLC. Which stands for: Thank, Learn and Connect. I begin my day by getting my journal and chart my day using a single line from the top of the page, across the middle right to left and then work my way to the bottom. Some days I have a very straight line and other days there are lots of curves, waves and zig-zags!
I love this strategy because by the time I line plot my ‘yesterday’, I can let yesterday go and begin a new day. While charting my day down the page, I THANK what I find amazing, I LEARN what I may not have known before and I CONNECT either what I learned with something else OR someone else. Then, I can start my new day!

Mr. Price: Tennis
In sports, (especially high skill sports like tennis) that is called visualizing proper execution. In life, it can help because you are pausing to think about your response (for instance), before you say something. Practicing this will help you become a more effective communicator and potentially improve your leadership skills. Try it!

Totally Awesome Video of the Week!
TOTALLY AWESOME ART OF THE WEEK!
We are celebrating Earth Day this week and are inspired by the land art created by artist Andy Goldsworthy! He made amazing artworks only using things found in nature like sticks, rocks and leaves- can you collect items you find on a walk and make land art too?!
