Dr. Manno's BCSD Brief, Edition #18, 2016-17 School Year
May 2017
A Message from the Board of Education and Superintendent of Schools
Dear BCSD Families and Residents,
During our June 14th Board of Education meeting, we will enthusiastically unveil the culminating work of our 2016-17 Strategic Planning Committee. Please see the detailed information below.
We continue to work hard to constructively engage our community for the betterment of our schools and District. This month we conducted our final meeting of the 2016-17 First Responders Safety and Security Task Force. This is a group of first responders from all of our towns, including county, state and local police, school operational leaders, town leaders, and individuals from other regional emergency management departments. The Task Force comes together several times per year to ensure the safety, security, and emergency preparedness of our schools and school community. We wish to thank those community members who reached out to us to provide positive feedback on the traffic light changes at the entrance to Fox Lane campus, which was a topic addressed during our Task Force meetings.
Our Budget Advisory Committee will come together for the final wrap-up meeting of the school year to reflect on our process and to begin to plan for the future
We are always proud of the achievements of our students. In this Edition of the Superintendent's Scoop, you will find a listing of Fox Lane High School's recent inductees into the National Honor Society, FLHS Award and Senior Scholarship winners, as well as a listing of current colleges/universities to which Fox Lane students will matriculate in the fall.
We all enjoy this exciting time of year with so many student events, performances, activities, and awards celebrations. Please see our District calendar on our website for these enjoyable events.
To keep informed, check out our District Facebook Page, Twitter Feed, and our school and parent association web pages/newsletters. Also, subscribe to our events calendar and athletics calendar. You may find Board meeting materials and subcommittee minutes in Board Docs.
Please accept our appreciation for your support for BCSD.
Sincerely,
