In Case You Missed It:
Thank you for those that have signed up for the Energy Kit through Progress Energy. We are up to 75 kits and need 25 more to receive the $250 for our school and potentially save 20000 kWh of energy If you haven't signed up please do so today. We have until December 31 to be in the competition to conserve the most energy. You can also ask friends and family to do the same. We appreciate all the support is taking care of the environment.
Our 8th Grade Team and the Academy of Hospitality and Tourism seniors at Southern Lee did a fantastic job planning and implementing the annual Eighth Grade Social. We had around 200 SanLee "seniors" for games in the gym, dinner, and dancing. It officially began at 4:30, but about half of the group chose to stay after school to play outside and prep for the event in the media center. I believe that's a testament in itself that our Stallions LOVE their school! All the time and effort that was put in for them demonstrates how much their teachers love and care about them. Thank you to Valerie Long, Bianca De Marcello, Melisa Rodriguez, Kim Stuart, Cindy Quiggle, Mark Hildreth, Tonnette Wicker, Sarah Yoder, Angela Kincaid, Felicia Wickes, Brian Caldwell, and Katie White.
Benchmark scores have been sent to individual teachers. ELA and Math teachers should bring the Deep Data Dive worksheets completed to PLC's on Tuesday to be able to discuss. A copy of your completed worksheets should be placed in my box before leaving for the Thanksgiving holiday. I have completed the same reflection sheets for my Monday meeting about benchmarks at Central Office for each grade level for each subject. It is a great guide to help us reflect. Thank you to Joanna Perkins, ELA Lead Teacher, for developing this last year.
I received an email that Science spreadsheets for 6th and 7th grade are supposed to be completed. These spreadsheets were shared via Google Sheets over a week ago with student scores. Now the standards are broken down. Data dive sheets should be filled out, meet with your team to discuss data/plan next steps, and place in my box by Thursday, 12/1.
We learned this week that our cheerleaders will be able to travel to away games for basketball. Thank you to Tommy Harrington for advocating and pursuing this for our girls, Miranda Colwell and Christina Reed for providing opportunities to shine and lead for our Ladies of Spirit.
