Important Information From CB South's Guidance Department
Program Planning
Program Planning for the sophomore and junior class is officially underway. All students received a copy of the 2017-2018 courses and directions of how to enter their classes in Student Portal in Titan Forum last week.
Important Program Planning dates:
Portal Opens- January 13th
Portal Closes- February 5th
Counselors will meet students individually to verify requests- February 6th through March 8th
Verification Sheets Available- March 10th
Verification Sheets Returned (if changes are needed)- March 14th *No changes can be made after this date.
We understand that students are requesting classes before they begin their second semester courses. Students should use their best judgement and pick courses that they believe will be the most appropriate fit.
College Planning for JUNIORS
The second college planning session will be on Thursday, February 23rd at 7 PM in the auditorium. Six college admissions officers will be participating in an admissions panel discussion. Questions and topics will be solicited from Juniors, via an online survey in the upcoming weeks.
If taking either the ACT or SAT this spring, Juniors should be aware of upcoming test dates and deadlines. This information can be found on the welcome screen in Naviance.
Starting the college admission process can be daunting, but there are many resources to help. Forbes recently posted an article about 10 things parents should be on the lookout for as their student enters the college admissions process. https://goo.gl/HFU7IQ

The girls beat North Penn 48-34 on Thursday, January 5th and Perk Valley on Sunday, January 8th at the University of the Sciences 50-31. The hot streak came to an end when the Titans suffered their first loss of the season to CB East on Tuesday, January 10th. The boys' basketball team played at CB East on Tuesday, January 10th. After being down 11 points at half-time, the Titans clawed their way back into the game and tied it up near the end of the 4th quarter. They had a chance to break the tie and go ahead with 8.8 seconds left but missed the front end of a 1 and 1 free-throw. The game headed into overtime and the Titans could not hit a game tying 3 pointer to send it into a second overtime. They lost by three points. The Titans are home on Friday, January 13th versus Souderton. Game times are 5:30 PM for JV and 7:00 PM for Varsity.

Parent Positive Speaker Series
Parent Positive is proud to welcome Dr. Jay Stone, PsyD to our parent speaker series. Dr. Stone will be presenting on Wednesday, February 1st at 7:00 PM in the Lenape Middle School Auditorium. His talk will focus on:
Understanding Childhood Brain Development: How to Unlock Potential.
Join James J. Stone, PsyD, Doylestown Health neuropsychologist, to learn tools and strategies to help nurture and maximize your child’s potential. The presentation is designed to help parents understand how their child’s brain processes information at different ages, how skill sets evolve developmentally, and how to translate that knowledge into appropriate expectations of their child. Parents will leave with strategies to empower their child to complete tasks at hand, and an understanding of when to encourage them to try on their own, and when to step in and help.
Registration for this free event is encouraged but not required.
Babysitting is available for children in grades K - 6 and will be provided by CB High School National Honor Society and Key Club students. Drop-off for babysitting will begin at 6:30pm and pick-up will immediately follow the program. Please share the ages of children for which you would like to have babysitting. If babysitting service is needed, pre-registration is required.
This program is part of the Parent Positive Speaker Series, a collaboration among Doylestown Health, CB Cares, the CB School District, and the CB Family YMCA.
Electronics Drive
CB South will be conducting an electronics recycling drive between January 2nd and Feburary 3rd. Recycling electronics not only reduces landfill space, but also recovers valuable materials like copper, nickel, silver, etc. and keeps toxic substances like mercury and lead from entering our air and waterways. Please drop off or ask your child to drop off your broken or unwanted electronics in the drop off box located in the main office or main lobby. A data clearing guide is listed below. However, all data or information will be securely wiped or destroyed by certified recyclers, Planet Green and Mean Green E-cyclers.
Accepted Electronics:
Mobile devices: cellphones, IPods, tablets, laptops
Small electronics: calculators, cameras and camcorders, gaming systems/consoles, GPS units, radar detectors, PDAs
Christmas/ holiday light strings
