SLES Family Roar
Weeks 10/16 - 10/20
Character Counts
Here at SLES we focus on building character by teaching character traits through the morning ROAR, community circles in the classroom, and teaching social emotional lessons. Students are encouraged to show the monthly character trait each and every day. At the end of the month a student is selected by their classroom teacher along with the help of their classmates.
Ms Bryant our school counselor, then takes their picture and displays it on the bulletin board outside of the main office. Students receive a Character Counts bracelet along with their picture and comments from their teacher. Be sure to check out the current character counts students next time you visit!

From: Shannon C.
To : Kelly Dillon and Chrystie Trinidad
"Mrs. Dillon and Mrs. Trinidad has made such a huge impact on my daughter already with transitioning to Kindergarten. Every day she is excited to come home and let me know what she has learned that day. They also are great communicators! We are lucky to have them as not only her teachers but at Saint Leonard!"
Show gratitude and appreciation to your students teachers and staff with a personal shout out!

Counselor's Corner
Our character trait this month is Acceptance. Teaching acceptance in the classroom or at home is no small feat. Children love to be loved, and when they feel different it can be hard. Differences can come in all shapes and sizes, from different races to physical abilities to interests and more. Children all have varying understandings of acceptance when they enter our classrooms as well. To practice acceptance, encourage students to Play with someone different from you at recess
4th and 5th grade parents, you will be receiving information for the Carson Scholarship. Students that are eligible will receive a packet by October 31st. To find out more information about the Carson Scholarship visit www.carsonscholars.org.

β¨SLES FAST β¨
Haunted Hallways 2023
Our Haunted Hallways event is quickly approaching! The FAST team is reaching out to send out as much advance information as possible!
Fill out the registration sign up on the flyer and send it in with your student if you or your business wants to host a table for the event! The event will be held from 6-7:30pm on Wednesday October 25 2023 on the main level of the school.
To host a table you must have the following: be cleared to be a school volunteer for CCPS, candy to hand out to the trick or treaters for the duration of the event, and although its not a necessity we would LOVE to see some themed tables! We think it would make the kids holiday to see as much Halloween fun as we can muster! Doors will open for set up and decorating as soon as the last bus leaves!
We will also need volunteers to help serve refreshments/collect $ in the cafeteria. We will be asking for $1 per pizza slice with a water or a juice box! We will be asking for donations of juices and water to be dropped off at the FAST trailer the M/T/W leading up to the event! We will be sending out a Sign Up Genius via email at the beginning of the month.
Parents and Teachers, we understand how much you put into your kids lives each day and we TRULY appreciate any time or refreshments that youβre able to donate to this event
