A Note from the Principal

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our Stoney Creek Families,

We have so much to be thankful for this year. Our students are showing leadership and kindness as well as working towards achieving their goals, our Staff is compassionate and hard-working, and our families are incredibly supportive! We have had a Watch Dog every day since Kick Off and they are helping in many ways around the school. The survey results from the DOGS day are very positive and full of joy. Our building is in tip-top shape due our Custodial and Maintenance crews, and finally, we are having fun!

We invited the Literacy Coaches from the Kent ISD into our building this week to provide us with feedback and they also had lots to celebrate with us regarding literacy practices. Our staff will now create a plan for moving forward with their recommendations, which stem around using our resources to provide professional development for our teachers to increase the potential for academic success. They celebrated our staff and students feeling safe in our environment and having processes and procedures that allow students to take risks in their learning.

Thank you for sending us your very best each day! We look forward to a quick week before the Thanksgiving break and we wish each family days filled with Gratitude.

On Friday, 11/9/2018 the kiddos were told the following for recess

1. Snow stays on the ground – we do not throw snow at each other…..snow man building is fine – but no throwing snow at each other.

2. If you do not have snow boots, you need to stay on the pavement.

3. If you do not have snow pants – you should not play in the snow.

4. Hats, gloves and coats are a must for us to stay warm outside.

a. For those kiddo’s that do not have hats and mittens there is a basket of gloves with the recess aides for kids to have/borrow

b. We also have a large supply of new hats that kids can have if they don’t have one or forgot their own hat. We will not be “borrowing” hats.

Drop and Go Spot

If you have to drop off a lunch, hat, mittens, birthday treats, or anything that your student may need during the school day. Please drop these items off at the Stoney Creek Drop and Go Spot. This is located across from the office window in the main lobby. We have 2 responsible students who have the job of bringing these items to the classrooms.
