Gabby Douglas Biography
Her real name is Gabrielle Christina Victoria Douglas. She was born on December 31st 1995 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. her parents were Timothy Douglas and Natalie Hawkins. She has three siblings. Arielle, Joyelle, and Timothy she was the youngest of four. She has two dogs a black/lab/rottweiler mix named Zoway, and a white morkie (maltese/yorkie mix) named Chandler.
The Start Of Her Career
When Gabby was three her sister taught her how to do a perfect cartwheel. When Gabby was four she could do a perfect one handed cartwheel. Arielle convinced her mom to enroll Gabby in gymnastics when she was six. When Gabby was eight she won the level four all around title. At the age of fourteen she move to Iowa to train with Liang Chow for the Olympics. She also stayed with the Walkers, her host family. She became best friends with the Walker's daughter, Chase. They taught Gabby how to swim in their pool. Gab Gabby also stayed with the Parton family when she was in Des Moines. the Parton's had four daughters, they said that while Gabby was there she acted like a big sister to them. Gabby by made her first big appearance in the Nastia Liukin Cup, as a level ten gymnast. she placed fourth. At the Cover Girl Classic she placed third on beam and ninth overall. At the U.S. Junior National Championship, Gabby placed fourth on vault and all around she was also a runner -up for beam in 2010.At the Pan Am Championships in Mexico Gabby took the the gold on the uneven bars and she took fifth in the all around. he U.S. Squad took won the team gold.
Gabby was the first American gymnast ever to win the gold in the individual all around and in the team all around.Gabby is also the first African American gymnast to win the gold all around and the first African American to take the gold from any country. On bars she competes a back pike while on beam she competes a standing back full. When Gabby competes on vault she does an Amanar vault. At the Olympic trials Gabby earned the only guaranteed spot on the 2012 Olympics team. Gabby wrote two books. Grace, Gold, and Glory and Raising the bar. She received the Virginia beach, V.A. key.
Gabby likes to read. Her favorite book is Twilight. I guess she is a fan of vampires because she is also a fan of the T.V. series Vampire Diaries. Gabby actually got to to be in an episode of Vampire Diaries in season four. Gabby likes to eat Mexican and Italian food. Gabby's role model is Dominique Dawes. she likes to knit. Her favorite subject in school is English.
Gabby Douglas left Iowa in 2013 to be with her family in California. She is working with Chris Walker at his gym in L.A. GymJam Academy. Nobody knows when she will come back. She did go on the post Olympic tour. She was absent from last years competition. she has opportunities to come back. for example she could compete at Worlds in China. She could compete at the Worlds in Scotland, 2015. Gabby can also compete in the summer Olympics in Rio, in 2016
