What Starts Here Changes The World...
Things to think about...
First Day Drop Off
- We know that everyone is excited for a first day send off and photo. You are welcome to walk your child in on the first day of school. We do ask that our kids demonstrate their independence and walk in on their own starting on the 2nd day. Thank you.
- Parents are invited to attend the PTO sponsored BooHoo YaHoo breakfast in the library after the first day drop off.
Arrival and Departure Times:
- Doors open at 7:20 in the morning.
- Learners are counted TARDY if they are not in class at 7:40 am when the tardy bell rings.
- Dismissal begins at 3:05 pm
Walkers and Bike Riders
- Will dismiss from the doors near the big kid playground.
- Will not be able to stay and play on the playground after school unless a parent/guardian is supervising them.
- Please be mindful of the fact that children will be walking or biking through adjacent neighborhoods before and after school. Please help us keep everyone safe.
Buses
- We will have a bus or two that will drop off and pick up children on both loops.
- Please allow buses the right of way in our parking lot and please allow them to park or stop in the areas we will designate for them.
News you can use...
Entering the office...
- The glass door closest to Ms. Summers will be locked during the day. This will require our front office team to unlock the door when a visitor approaches. Please be patient as we work on the procedures and as we expedite our new routines.
Dropping off lunch...
- Lunch drop off. If you drop off lunch in the front office we will ask that you start to drop off the lunches on a cart that will be located in the secure entry area that is located just outside of the interior office door. We will make sure the lunches are taken down to the lunch room each morning by 10:30am.
Entering the campus...
- License and/or Identification. While this is not a change in our practice it is a guideline that benefits from a reminder (or 2). If you come to Lakeside and if you plan on entering our building for any reason at all we must ask you to bring your identification and that you present it upon arrival. Yes, we have known many of you for years but we still must ask for your identification. Thank you for your understanding.
- Campus entry (for adults) can only be achieved through the main entry doors. Please do not attempt to access the campus through the cafeteria doors.
Taking a child...
- Signing out your child requires identification AND it requires approval from the guardian (parents) of record. This is also not new but does require a reminder.
- Please make sure your child's teacher is aware of any changes in dismissal. Same day changes need to be communicated by 10am.
Lunching with a Longhorn....
- We ask that all families refrain from joining us for lunch the first 2 weeks of school so we can help our learners transition to school and get them acclimated to lunch time procedures.
- Please note that when you do join us for lunch, parents/guardians can only sit at the designated tables and can only eat with their child. A parent/guardian can not allow their child's friend to join them at the guest table.
- We have several nut free rooms and designated nut free areas for children with allergies. Please be mindful of these areas and refrain from "contaminating" those areas with products that may cause a reaction. Thank you.
Attendance Policy...
- I will share new attendance guidelines in the coming weeks but I would like to encourage you to review the district code of conduct which addresses the types of absences that are considered "excused" or "unexcused." Please be aware of the changes in this area.
PTO
Lakeside PTO is gearing up for a GREAT year.
As you're preparing for Back to School, you will want to check out the PTO Website and create your account. If you’ve already created an account, don't forget to update your class information as soon as you find out who your teacher will be. The website is a great way to stay up-to-date with what's going on around our campus and throughout the district.
- I hope you will stop by after morning drop off on Sept 9 at 7:45 am for our first PTO meeting of the year. You'll get to meet other parents and stay in-the-know about all things Lakeside.
