IB World School @ Huffman eNews
August 16,2019
A Note from Principal Allen:
Dear Parents,
We have had a really great first two weeks of school! Students have gotten back in to the swing of things by practicing routines and procedures that help increase instruction time. Our entire Huffman family has been reconnecting previous relationships and building new ones! These first two weeks have been all about making everyone feel comfortable, welcome, accepted and valued.
Many of you had a chance to attend our parent information night on Monday. We tried a different format this year which seemed to bring more participants but we want to hear from you! Please take a couple seconds to complete a two question survey so your voice is heard. We use that feedback as we plan future events for this year and following years.
We have a lot to celebrate moving into this third year with the IB program. Securing our authorization, improving our accountability rating and welcoming transfers from all over the district highlights just a few of our celebrations. We are looking forward to an even more successful year as everyone watches us rise!
Thank you for joining us at PIN Night. We want to hear from you. Please take 2 minutes to answer a few questions:
Student Insurance is Available!
Do we have your Native Flag?

Huffman’s FIRST LEGO League: Calling all 3rd, 4th, and 5th Graders!!!
This season, Huffman’s FIRST LEGO League team will participate in an Innovation Project. To complete this project, team members will identify a problem with a building or public space in our community, design a solution, and then put together a 5 minute presentation to share with the judges at the December competition. Team members will also compete in the Robot Game where they will be asked to select from a pre-determined list of missions to solve, and then program a robot to complete those missions. The robot will only have 2 ½ minutes to complete as many missions as possible! FIRST LEGO League will meet each Tuesday from 2:45-3:45 in Ms. Zwall’s room beginning Tuesday, September 3rd and will end with a Saturday competition in December. If interested, please fill out the application found here, or you can request an application from your teacher. Questions? Please contact laura.dizie@pisd.edu or wendy.zwall@pisd.edu.
