A message from our principal, Mrs. Fadeji
Dear Penngrove Families,
It has been an absolute joy and pleasure to watch your children grow this year. It takes SUCH a village to do what we do at Penngrove. Thank you so very much for all the many ways you have contributed. We are extremely grateful.
If your family is moving on to other schools and/or cities, we will miss you! Thank you for your time with us and for trusting us with your precious little ones during your time at Penngrove. We also have some very special staff members who are leaving us at the end of this year. Mrs. Heather Sposato (2nd grade teacher) is taking a leave of absence to spend more time at home with her two little ones. Ms. Laura Boyd (Occupational Therapist) has accepted a position with the Marin County Office of Education. Ms. Ann Conwell (Reading Specialist) will be supporting two other schools within our district as a reading specialist. Mrs. Sharon Whisman (Learning Center/RSP teacher) is taking a leave of absence to continue her education in school psychology. To our students, families and staff who are moving on, we wish you all the very best in the future. Thank you for adding so much to who we are at Penngrove.
Because I know not everyone orders a yearbook or has time to sit down and read it from front to back (although I encourage you to do so, it's awesome!), I thought I'd share my "yearbook blurb" with you as my farewell for the 2017-18 school year.
Congrats Penn Panthers, you did it!
You learned. You risked. You tried something new. You struggled. You celebrated. You rushed. You smiled. You made new friends. You included others. You made good choices. You asked for help. You fell. You got up. You discovered areas for growth. You recognized your strengths. You made it!
This year has been extra special for me because it’s the school year that I became a mom. Having Baby Sam has made me realize even more deeply how and why your families love you as much as they do. Each one of you is uniquely and wonderfully made and there is only one you! Remember the book I read to your classes in January? In Only One You the author Linda Kranz, reminds us to...
Always be on the lookout for a new friend.
Find your own way. You don’t have to follow the crowd.
Know when to speak; know when to listen.
If you make a wrong turn, circle back.
Blend in when you need to, stand out when you have the chance.
And finally Panthers, remember there’s only one you in this great big world....so make it a better place. I’m proud of each one of you.
Enjoy your summer!
~Mrs. Fadeji

Meet Mrs. Judson (formerly known as Ms. Maurer)
Hi there! I am Elena Judson, and I am so excited to be joining Team Penn! I am a Sonoma county native, born and raised in Sebastopol. After graduating from Analy High School I moved to Portland, Oregon, where I completed my undergraduate coursework. My passion for teaching began six years ago, in a special education classroom in Santa Rosa--and it was that first experience which inspired me to earn dual credentials (in general and special education) from Dominican University of California. I had the pleasure of completing my student teaching here at Penngrove, and am thrilled to be working alongside the teaching community that has inspired me so much! I have spent the past two years teaching sixth grade in the Piner Olivet School District, and can’t wait to begin new adventures in fourth grade!
I love baking, yoga, and going to the beach with my dog, Chloe. My husband, Tyler, and I are about to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary, and I’m hoping to celebrate with a visit to my favorite place on Earth...Disneyland!
I am elated to be joining this wonderful community, and to work with such an amazing group of staff, students, and families!
THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH FOR SPOILING US DURING TEACHER AND STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK! WE ARE SO LUCKY!

A Message From Your PTA
The PTA is looking for parent volunteers for the following events during the 2018/2019 school year:
-Back to School BBQ Movie Night Committee Members to work with chair Shannon Gilmore (event in August)
-Jog-a-thon Chairperson and Committee Members (event in September)
-Harvest Festival Committee Members to work with chair Dionna Dunaway (event in October)
* Look for an email about 2019 events after Winter Break
If there is not a Chairperson for an event, the responsibilities will default to the PTA Executive Board, a committee member will not be assigned to chairperson unless they volunteer. To sign-up contact friendsofpenngrovepta@gmail.com.
The time commitment and activities vary with each event and can range from pre-event organization to day-of-event logistics. Everyone can offer a different type or amount of help and we appreciate it ALL! It takes a lot of volunteer time and talent to host these events for our students - we appreciate your assistance and dedication!
A huge thank you to our board members who are rotating off the board: Brian Dufour, Dionna Dunaway, and Veronica Goulet. You have all been outstanding! We're excited to welcome our newest board members: Parmeeta Ghoman and Jessica Goebel.

Parents - Old Recorders?
We are collecting old recorders to augment our supply of loaners. If your child still has interest, please keep their old recorder at home. If there is an abandoned recorder around your house that will never again see the light of day, we could put it to good use. Send it on in to the office. Thank you!!!
