Sustainability
Sustainable energy vs Unsustainable energy
What is Sustainability
Sustainability is limiting the use of a resource to a certain rate so we can ensure it is able to renew itself
Solar energy
Solar energy is when solar panels or cells are placed around and will capture the energy from the sun. The energy from the sun will be converted in to direct or alternate energy.
Wind energy
Wind energy uses wind turbines and turn in the moving air and power an electric generator that can supply an electric current. Basically the opposite of a fan instead of using electricity to make wind, wind energy uses wind to make electricity
Hydro electricity
Converting water from hydro dams in to electricity
How are these sources of electricity sustainable?
These electricity sources are sustainable because all of these are renewable sources. We will never run out of these things any time soon the sun will always be around, the sun will always be around and water does not look like it is going to run out any time soon in Canada. So we can insure that we can use it for future purposes and that is how these energy sources are sustainable
Thermal electricity
Fuel is converted into thermal energy to heat water, making steam. The steam turns a turbine creating mechanical energy to run a generator. Magnets turn inside the generator, producing electric energy.
Nuclear electricity
Electricity is produced when the uranium atoms split then the steam comes out of the plants, then it produces the electricity.
Coal energy
Coal is crushed to a fine dust and burnt. The heat from burning coal dust turns the water into steam and the steam is used to turn the blades of a turbine.
How is this source of electricity not sustainable
This source of electricity is not sustainable because the rate we are using the fuel for thermal electricity, the uranium for nuclear electricity and the coal we will not have any left for future uses plus these things are not renewable. That is why these sources of electricity is not sustainable.
