2016-2017
Principal's Post
Titan Families,
I hope each of you are enjoying this season of Thanksgiving and joy. Please note a few differences in the campus schedule as we draw near to our Winter Break. For this calendar year, the first semester is completed on December 16. We will have final exams starting on Tuesday, December 12. A link to our exam schedule is listed in a section below. Please note that semester exams cannot be given early. Any student missing exams will need to schedule with their grade level Assistant Principal to take those exams on Monday, January 2nd.
Speaking of Assistant Principals, when we return in January, our APs will be organized for students by alphabet by last name. This is just like our counselors are organized. Please bear with us as we make this transition. We feel that moving to this organization model will increase our efficiency in working with both students and their families. Additional information will be sent as the new semester begins.
Also, please take a few moments and complete our annual district Parent Survey. This is an excellent opportunity for your voice to be heard. Trust me when I say, we want to hear from you! {{Link here}}
I appreciate each and every one of your families. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.
Sincerely,
Kim Barker

NISD to host Deep Dish Discussions
Northwest ISD and the Northwest ISD Council of PTAs will host Deep Dish Discussions with Superintendent Ryder Warren this fall, where community members can learn about the current state and future of the school district.
Join Dr. Warren and district leaders for the inside scoop on Northwest ISD’s academic future, growth projections and details on the Texas Legislature’s upcoming session. Collaborate on issues facing public education and Northwest ISD and enjoy a dish of ice cream at our final meeting to be held on Tuesday, December 6 at Northwest High School.
All meetings will take place 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the host school’s student union. Community feedback from the meeting will be used to help Northwest ISD prepare for the future.
NISD Launches a New Smartphone APP
Northwest ISD has launched its new smartphone app, providing parents, students and staff with a one-stop location for all their district-related needs. The new app, which is available for iPhone and Android smartphones, provides quick access to important district services such as meal payments, grades, online courses and more.
Additionally, the app provides quick information on all Northwest ISD schools, allowing users to quickly get GPS directions to a campus, contact a school immediately by phone, or view its website and social media accounts. To download the app, go to www.nisdtx.org/app

Recognition Ads are available in the yearbook as well. Let your sixth grader know how proud you are if his first year in middle school; provide some motivation and support to your seventh grader as she continues her journey; or brag on your eighth grader as he gets ready to embark on a new and exciting high school career. No matter where your student is in the middle school path, an ad in the Titan yearbook is the perfect way to let them know you support their accomplishment.
Ask Your Student About Their ePortfolio!
NISD strives to prepare students to be future-ready. One way we do this is by providing each student with a personal ePortfolio where they can upload and store showcase work, reflect on their personal growth, and communicate their learning with others. Each site is personalized by the student and housed with NISD. Students choose the work that they want to up load and showcase.
Parents please visit the links below to learn more about our student ePortfolios.
