Family Pajama Storytime and Cookie Making Next Week!
Next week your child's teacher has invited you to for a fun family storytime and cookie decorating event! We hope you can join us for this exciting classroom event! Please limit adults to 1 or 2 per child, as too many adults can be overwhelming during large group activities. It is also appreciated if other arrangements can be made for siblings so your ECDC student can be the star of the day, and enjoy special time with you!
Be sure to RSVP to your child's teacher!

A Message from your PCC
We all give in many ways and we at the ECDC PCC are thankful for all of the ways our families support our school from attending meetings, helping out at teacher preps, volunteering in the classrooms or just saying thanks to our teachers each day. We are also grateful to our families for your donations…because of them we are pleased to announce that the ECDC PCC will be able to purchase the teachers a new laminator so that they continue creating and sharing all of the awesome resources they utilize with our children.
Speaking of laminating, we want to thank those families who participated in helping to make the Thanksgiving placemats that the students made for the senior center. If you didn’t get to help, check out our Facebook page (ECDC PCC) to see some our kiddos made. We really enjoyed the opportunity for families to come in “after hours” to prep and we are hoping to do another one before winter is over for the hat and mitten drive.
Another community outreach project we are hoping to complete and perhaps incorporate into an evening prep is a hat and mitten drive. We will be collecting new mittens and hats that the students will hang on clotheslines throughout the ECDC hallways. We will likely need donations of twine, command strip hooks and clothespins/clips and help in setting up the clotheslines in the hallways. More to come on this...
In lieu of holiday gifts, the ECDC PCC is also collecting donations for The Santa Foundation through December 19. These donations from our families will be compiled into a single monetary donation from the ECDC staff to the Santa Foundation. Teacher gifts of any sort are completely voluntary and should never exceed $50 per teacher.
One other goal for the ECDC PCC this year is to create a list of students attending kindergarten in the fall and grouping those students by school. We are hoping to share this list and possibly set up a playdate over the summer so that families can make connections for their little one’s as they head off to kindergarten. Again, more information to follow on this...
There is no meeting of the PCC in December but please consider joining us for the next meeting on January 14, 2019 at 7 p.m. at the ECDC. The meeting is always attended by a few PCC members, Kelty Kelley and Miss Diane (our speech/language therapist), but all are welcome to attend, whether you want to help out or just want to listen in.
Wishing everyone a lovely holiday season and warm winter break!

NEWS FROM THE NURSE
The cold weather is here and unfortunately it is also the time of year we see more illnesses! Knowing when to keep a child home from school and when to call the school nurse is not always easy. Below is the criteria used by Franklin Public Schools.

- Cold and cough with thick colored nasal drainage
- Itchy or reddened eyes with drainage (possible conjunctivitis)
- Moderate to severe pain
- Unusual rash
- A poor night’s sleep due to illness, cough, etc.
When to Send Your Child Back to School:
- When fever free for 24 hours without the use of Tylenol or Motrin
- 24 hours after the start of antibiotic therapy for a bacterial infection
- 24 hours without vomiting or diarrhea
When to Call the School Nurse:
- A change in your child's health status
- Newly prescribed medication or Changes in current medication
- A fracture, sprain, stitches, cast or brace
- Serious injury, illness or hospitalization
- When your child scheduled for surgery
- Contagious disease such as strep throat, conjunctivitis, flu, chicken pox, whooping cough etc.

Following these guidelines will help to prevent an illness cycle and keep everyone healthy! Remember good handwashing is one of the easiest ways to help prevent the spread of disease. Please contact me with any questions or concerns.
