Women’s History Month

March is Women's History Month. It is an annual declared month that highlights the contributions of women to events in history and contemporary society. International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR TEACHER OF THE MONTH: MR. JAMES "COACH" HERRINGTON !

Mr. Herrington is the Welding Instructor at the Jefferson County Career and Technical Center for 25 years. He graduated from the Jefferson County High School in 1994 and Copiah Lincoln Community College in 1997. He also fulfilled requirements to become a certified educator at Alcorn State University. He was also granted the opportunity to serve as a certified NCCER Instructor. He has built relationships with several companies and training institutions such as Ingalls Industries, Nucor Steel, Inner Steel, Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, Mississippi State Fire Academy , NASA's John C. Stennis Space Center, Copiah-Colin, Hinds Community College, Delta Technical, and the National Center for Construction Education and Research.

Coach Herrington has dedicated more than 20 years to the foot programs in Jefferson County. He has accomplished many accolades during that time, including the 2019-2020 District 7-3A title and a playoff appearance.

He is married to Shere Johnson-Herrington , they are the proud parents of three sons: James Jr., Jalen, and Jaheime.

Carpentry/Construction Students attends the State Competition

Our Carpentry/Construction students had the opportunity to compete at the competition. They were awarded the opportunity to attend the MCEF/SkillsUSA Mississippi State Championship in Jackson, MS. Kudos to Mr. Evans for giving his students the experience and exposure. Dr. Gibson also attended the SkillsUSA Counselors’ Workshop located within the MS Trade Mart.
