Annual Goals/Certificated Work Plan & Goals Mtg
Click Here for your Annual Goals/Certificated Work Plan
You will need to copy the document before completing it. You will develop three goals for the year:
1) District: Equity Focus
2) Site: MTSS Math Focus
3) Personal Goal
While your grade level may have common goals, the goals should not be exactly the same because you do not have the same students and they do not have the same exact needs.
You need to think about the students in your classroom and how you will support them. The goals should include the specific activities you plan to do to successfully meet your goals. IT is OK if your goals focus on only a couple of students. Then your plans can be very specific.
Click Here to Sign-Up for Annual Goals Review Meeting Next Week. All certificated staff are to complete the goals/work plan annually even if you are not being evaluated.
COST Referral Process
COST (Coordination of Services Team) meeting time slots are now available! They will occur on the 2nd Mondays and 4th Tuesdays of each month in Room 11. Our first COST meeting will be on Monday Sept. 9th.
COST is the main point of entry for all (non-crisis) academic and non-academic support services. We work as a team to link students to academic, health and family support services.
The COST referral process begins with a written referral and can be made by a teacher, parent or other staff member. Click here to access the COST Referral Form . This form can also be found in the Staff Lounge to the right of the door on the wall as well as in the Google Drive>Shared Drives>Jensen Ranch Staff folder.
Print out the form and complete all boxes as best you can, then drop off into the yellow COST folder in Vinita's mailbox. Be sure to save a copy for your files.
After you submit a referral, the team will respond to you within the week via email to inform you of your COST meeting time. At that meeting, we'll have the opportunity to discuss your concerns about your student's needs and come up with strategies. We'll do our best to stay on time, and we ask that you're prompt as we want to respect everyone's schedules.
Here are friendly reminder steps that may be taken prior to referral:
- Teacher has consulted with last year's teacher to consider effective interventions utilized.
- Teacher has discussed concerns 1:1 with student, as appropriate.
- Teacher has contacted the family to discuss observations and consider strategies.
- Teacher has attempted various Tier 1 efforts or interventions in the classroom. Please document these on the COST form.
Plus, consider the following teacher resources:
- PBIS World Ideas to consider for various behaviors
- CVUSD Occupational Therapy website
- CVUSD Behavior Specialists website
Updated Board Policies
Please review the updated Board Policies and ensure you are familiar with the changes.
There are major changes to BP 5132 Dress and Grooming. We used to be very nitty-gritty about what clothing students can and cannot wear. This new districtwide policy is much more general and it is focused on equity. We are no longer policing short length, shoulder strap widths, among other things. Again, you are to review and be familiar with the changes.

Measure G Updates
Jensen Measure G Work:
- Our current playground project: finish sanding of playground structure poles and leveling of base rock. Once finished, the turf will be added. The six benches have been moved to provide a balance around the structure and not block the front entrance nor be in the back. Asphalt will be added around the immediate sides to reduce dirt/dust.
- Proposed Library, Resource Room and staff room/office reconfiguration to increase function and improve the use of space
- Painting-new exterior color scheme
- Staff parking lot solar array/panels in parking spaces closest to the school.
- We are exploring the possible rerouting of the fire lane further from the buildings and the possibility of adding an additional portable to allow flexibility in space for programs like RTI/MTSS.
You will be kept up to date as more information becomes available. If you have any questions, please let me know.
Site Leader Needed: MTSS /CAN BE A SHARED POSITION
MTSS
Jensen will be at a great disadvantage without an MTSS site lead this year. In order to move forward with our MTSS site work, I cannot be the only person with all the information.
I would like to recommend that two or three people share the job and split up the duties to make it more manageable and the stipend would then be divided as well. Some of the other elementary sites have done this to lessen the load for the coming school year. While I understand this is a stipended "extra" position, it will put Jensen behind the rest of the CV schools to not be involved in this work this school year and I cannot carry the load of the position.
This continues to be a bridge year for our MTSS work (RTI and PBIS).
- There will be 7 two-hour monthly meetings (instead of 8 meetings).
- Members will participate in at least 2 of the 4 PBIS day-long meetings focused on PBIS training (Sept. 5th and Feb. 24th)
- Members will help co-plan and co-lead the Elem. Cross-Site Grade Level Collaboration Days (11/5, 2/18, and 3/17)
Interpreter Services
To request an in-person interpreter, fill out the online Interpreter Request form (below) with the required information to submit your interpreter request.
A minimum of two weeks notice is needed for an "in-person" interpreter. On occasion, an interpreter can be found on shorter notice, but that is generally not the norm and should not be expected. An email will be sent on your behalf to request an interpreter within 24 hours of the first workday after your request has been received. You will be included on that email and will be notified via email when your interpreter request has been filled.
For last-minute interpreting needs, you and the family can use the Language Line. Click the link for the directions.
Elementary Assessment Calendar for 2019-2020
Please review the 2019-2020 Elementary Assessment Calendar and work with your grade level team as you work on your curriculum planning. This is a live link so if there are updates or changes it will be reflected on this document.

September 15 begins national recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month. As with the recognition of all groups, we will take some time to think about ways to recognize the culture, history and contributions of Latinos today and throughout history. Here is a link to a folder that we have created for you to share any resources that you have. By sharing good resources, we can assist teachers in finding good materials to use in their classes.
Hispanic Heritage Month is the period to recognize the contributions, culture and history of Hispanic Americans and Latinos from across the globe. The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period starting on September 15 and ending on October 15. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988 on the approval of Public Law 100-402.
September 15 was chosen as the starting point for the celebration because it is the anniversary of independence of five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. They all declared independence in 1821. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September 18, respectively. Public Law 100-402 authorizes and requests the President to issue an annual proclamation designating September 15 through October 15 as “Hispanic Heritage Month”
